Campus
The Pandu college has a campus area of 3.95 acres. In 2004, Pandu College was located on a 2.44-acre plot of land provided by the Northeast Frontier Railway on a long-term lease. Despite the college's impressive academic and infrastructural growth, the limited space became one of its key challenges. While the college received a B+ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the size of the campus was noted as one of its weakest points. The district authorities had allocated an additional 15.5 acres of land to Pandu College, which, at the time, had not yet been transferred to the college authorities by the railways. This expansion was expected to provide the college with much-needed space to enhance its infrastructure and facilities. However, even to this day, the college campus remains unchanged, indicating several possible issues. The delay in the transfer of land could be attributed to administrative or bureaucratic hurdles. Financial constraints may also have played a role in limiting the college's ability to develop its infrastructure despite the availability of additional land. Furthermore, there may have been a limited focus on campus expansion, with more attention perhaps given to improving academic quality and student services. The lack of progress in expanding the campus also points to the possibility of inadequate planning, coordination challenges, or institutional stagnation within the administration. This stagnant development highlights the college's continued struggle with physical space, which remains one of the major limitations for accommodating its growing student body and improving overall campus facilities. While the college has made strides in academic excellence, addressing the spatial constraints remains a critical area for future growth.
History
Pandu College's establishment is closely linked to the expansion of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) and the growing population in the Pandu-Maligaon area. In 1960, a group of local leaders, including prominent freedom fighter Sri Deben Sarma, identified the need for higher education in western Guwahati, which lacked such institutions at the time. The groundwork for the college began in 1961, but challenges related to space and funding emerged. The NF Railway granted permission to use the vacated Netaji Vidyapeeth premises and a 99-year lease for 3.95 acres of land to establish the college. Early support came from local contributions, including donations from railway employees. The college was founded by Sri Satya Kinkar Sen, who left his job as a lecturer at Handique Girls College to become its first principal. On September 5, 1962, Pandu College was inaugurated, with Sri Radhika Ram Das, Minister of State for Revenue, as the chief guest. The first admission notice for Pre-University and Degree classes was issued in 1963, and within two years, both the Science and Arts streams were operational. The college quickly became a popular choice for higher education in the region. In 1967–68, honours courses were introduced, and the college became affiliated with Gauhati University. Today, Pandu College, located about 14.3 km from Guwahati's capital and 16.5 km from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, offers undergraduate education in Arts, Commerce, and Science, along with seven Post Graduate courses. It is well-connected by road, rail, and air transport.

It also includes sections for circulation, computers, and newspapers, fostering a supportive environment for academic and research activities. The library holds a diverse collection of more than 47,500 printed books, including textbooks and reference materials across Arts, Science, and Commerce disciplines. Additionally, the library subscribes to 2 journals, 22 magazines, and 13 newspapers, enhancing the learning and reading experience for its users.
Hostels
The Pandu College Boys' Hostel was established on 5 September 2000 to provide accommodation for students, offering a safe and secure living environment near the college. The hostel is located in a residential area, equipped with essential amenities to ensure the comfort and security of its residents. The Pandu College Girls' Hostel was founded on 30 December 2000 to cater to the needs of female students coming from distant areas. Initially, the hostel had a single block with a capacity for 50 students. Due to growing demand, a second block, named the Women's Hostel, was completed in 2017. The hostel is situated within the college campus and is easily accessible by bus, rail, and air. Recently, the first block was renamed Mamoni Raisom Goswami Girls Hostel (MRGH), while the second block was renamed Chandraprabha Saikiani Girls Hostel (CSH).
