Newport is the name given to the ward and suburb of Melton Mowbray in the county of Leicestershire, England. It is one of the six wards of the town on Melton Borough Council.
Geography
The ward covers the northern part of Melton Mowbray and is split by Scalford Brook. The A607 road runs to the east towards Grantham and Waltham-on-the-Wolds. The former line between Melton Mowbray North and Scalford passes through the northern part of the ward. The area has a mix of rural landscapes and residential, and commercial properties. It is also conjoined with the village of Thorpe Arnold to the east. The ward is also home to Melton Mowbray Hospital.
