The Irish Peatland Conservation Council (IPCC; Irish: Comhairle Chaomhnaithe Phortaigh na hÉireann) is a national charitable organisation established in 1982 to conserve and protect a representative sample of bogs in Ireland, and to campaign on bog-related issues.

History

The Irish Peatland Conservation Council was established in 1982.

Operations

The council's headquarters and a retail outlet are located at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre, Lullymore, Rathangan, County Kildare. Its offices and a shop had previously been situated on Capel Street in Dublin city centre.

Objectives

IPCC's conservation aims and objectives are set out in a series of Action Plans, the most recent being the Bogs and Fens of Ireland Conservation Plan 2005. An account of the first fifteen years of the Save the Bogs campaign is contained in Save the Bogs Story. IPCC also produces a semi-annual campaign newsletter titled Peatland News.

The IPCC is a registered charity, is not routinely state-funded and thus relies primarily on public support. It is a member of the Irish Environmental Network, a grouping of Irish environmental NGOs.
