Claudia Romo Edelman is a Mexican-American speaker, entrepreneur, media contributor, and an activist for Hispanic equity, diversity, and inclusion. Founder and CEO of the Hispanic Star and Host of A LA LATINA podcast.

Personal life

Claudia was born in Mexico City and is the daughter of Mexican actress Cecilia Romo and Raúl Domingo González Soto. Romo lives in New York City and is married to Richard Edelman.

Career

Claudia Romo Edelman holds degrees on Communications and Philosophy from Universidad Intercontinental as well as a Master's on Political Communications from the London School of Economics.

Romo Edelman has more than 30 years of experience leading marketing and advocacy for global organizations including UNICEF, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations and the World Economic Forum. She has launched campaigns and initiatives including the SDG Cannes Lions, Product (RED), and the Sustainable Development Goals. She is the co-host of "Global GoalsCast", a podcast distributed by CBS News Digital.

Previously she was seconded by UNICEF to the Executive Office of the Secretary General of the United Nations, to lead communications and advocacy for the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change under Dr. David Nabarro, Special Adviser for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Climate Change. Romo Edelman was also a marketing professor of the University of Geneva for the MBA with specialization in International Organizations, IOMBA and has a number of MOOCs marketing courses in Coursera.

From 1999 to 2007, she was the head of PR, media and special projects for the World Economic Forum. Claudia was also Head of Marketing for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria where she also worked on High Net Worth Individuals and led Public Relations and Special Projects for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Romo Edelman was appointed chairman of the CMO Summit of Hispanicize 2017. She was a member the Jury of the D&AD Impact Awards on civic engagement 2017 and was a member of the Jury in 2016. She is an official adviser and member of the Jury for the Cannes Lion SDG Awards.

Romo Edelman created and hosts a digital Latino Leadership Academy, via GenConnectU, with courses designed to empower and inspire future Hispanic leaders.

She is a keynote speaker and trainer and a regular guest on media outlets such as Univision’s Despierta América, NBC-Telemundo, Al Día News, AdAge, La Lista, El Heraldo de México, Periódico Reforma, and PRODU.

As part of the Hispanic Star initiative, a platform within the We Are All Human Foundation, to highlight the accomplishments and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx individuals and change the narrative about Latinos in the United States, Romo Edelman seeks to challenge stereotypes and promote a sense of pride and unity within the Hispanic community, highlighting the incredible economic, cultural and human contribution of Latinos in America.

In collaboration with Macmillan Publishers, Romo Edelman launched the Hispanic Star series, a collection of biographies for young readers. The series aims to introduce children to influential Hispanic and Latinx personalities of the past and present, highlighting their achievements across various fields such as sports, science, arts, culture, and academia. Through these books, Romo Edelman endeavors to inspire future generations and foster a sense of cultural pride and identity.

Alongside Cynthia Kleinbaum Milner, Claudia Romo Edelman launched the podcast 'A La Latina - The Playbook To Succeed Being Your Authentic Self.' This platform aims to address the underrepresentation of Latinas in senior executive roles. The podcast spotlights accomplished Latinas in the corporate realm.
