The history of Brightspeed

Particular locations where the Lumen Technologies had operated are also served under "new" AT&T (or American Telephone and Telegraph; formerly Southwestern Bell and BellSouth),, Verizon Communications (formerly the C&P Telephone, Bell of Pennsylvania (or Pennsylvania Bell Telephone Company), and Verizon New Jersey (which was once New Jersey Bell Telephone Company). The Brightspeed began their operations in these areas in 2020 or 2021.

In Texas the service provider was earlier named Embarq, into which the Sprint Nextel had spun off its telephone operations in 2006. In Kansas, Brightspeed had been previously called The American Telephone Company also until 2006. It was owned under Sprint Nextel until that year when it was spun off into Embarq.
