Anatoly Galb (Russian: Анатолий Иосифович Гальбрайх, also Анатолий Гальб; 5 August 1948 – 25 December 2018)

Biography

Anatoly was born in the family of Josif Galbraikh in Leningrad. In 1966, he graduated from the Taurida Art College, marking the beginning of a promising journey in the world of art. In 1973 he earned a degree from the esteemed St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Design, solidifying his place in the vibrant artistic community.

Before these milestones, in 1963, he had the opportunity to collaborate with Mikhail Shemjakin, gaining invaluable experience that would shape his artistic vision. From 1967 to 1970, he joined forces with notable figures Vladimir Sterligov and Tatiana Glebova, becoming a key member of the "Petersburg group." During this time, he actively participated in a series of unofficial exhibitions, showcasing his work and contributing to the flourishing art scene of the era.

In 2019 a memorial exhibition of Anatoly Galb took place in St.Petersburg.
