IPBE request
My current IP range (Special:Contribs/223.177.0.0/16) was blocked by you last year. This is preventing me from moving pages, despite having moved pages until as recently as yesterday, and I haven't changed my connection since then. It seems that my IP was reassigned. Can you please grant me WP:IPBE so that I can continue my regular editing activities? Thanks! —CX Zoom 14:32, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- @CX Zoom I see the spam persists despite the block but it's probably not doing much at this point so I've made it anon-only. You shouldn't have any more problems. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:41, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

War memorials in Surrey
Hi @HJ Mitchell: Hope you are well and Happy New Year! Murgatroyd49 and I have been thinking about the List of public art in Surrey page, and whether it would be appropriate to split out the war memorials into their own list. There are currently over 70 war memorials listed on the page, but I think that there are at least another 50 (quite possibly another 100 more). A split would give us the opportunity to include indoor memorials – I know of about a dozen villages that don't have an outdoor monument but that do have a plaques inside their churches, for example.
We agree that if we are to go ahead, it would be worth rethinking the way that we format the list and considering what information should be displayed for each memorial. We have been playing around with some possible layouts at User:Murgatroyd49/sandbox3. We think it is worth exploring these options before formally proposing the split. Would you be able to drop by and let us know what you think please? We have started a discussion at User talk:Murgatroyd49/sandbox3. There is also the question of breaking up the table by grouping the memorials into different categories by design/appearance.
I have half an eye on a potential Featured List nomination in the very far future, so I am keen to make sure that any formatting and categorisation decisions we take now would not prevent a successful nomination.
Thanks and best wishes Mertbiol (talk) 12:27, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

Sorry but
I've no objection to your change of vote. I maintain great respect for you. But you, like most, have no idea how shocked I was to be called a touter of antisemitic jokes and for that to form one of the last entries on the log's characterization of my behaviour here, on the very eve of Arbpia5. That automatically meant that anything I might have said in that case would have carried no weight. I had no option to but to retire, which meant (a) no longer contributing to any articles on any topic and (b) not engaging in any further wikipedia activities.
It was not 'blogging' to preface the final and predictable notification that page will wear as it is closed down, with my take on what happened. At Tyburn all those hung (even if from the hangman's perspective they are effectively hoisted with their own petard) are entitled to a final word, and do not 'blog'. Best regards, and absolutely no rancour. And please, no reply. Nishidani (talk) 15:06, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello Harry, belated Happy New Year and trust you are well? Sorry to report that the above IP, which you blocked last year on the United 93 (film) is again making disruptive edits on this page - adding extra genres when the text further in the intro para decribes the film accurately. This IP seems to delight in distruptive editing on Misplaced Pages. Can I leave this with you please? David J Johnson (talk) 16:40, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- @David J Johnson I've blocked them for a month. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:22, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

You've got email
Hi HJ, hope you're well. I dropped you an email the other day – I'm mentioning it here since you probably get a lot of those. Best wishes, Andreas JN466 08:36, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Jayen466 you did. I'm sorry. I read it, got busy with something else, then it got buried. I'll dig it out and reply now. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:59, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
Ban
Hi @HJ Mitchell I'm here to talk about my banning that recently happened a day or two ago. Anyways, i just want to talk about why you banned me from editing? I didn't vandalize any articles, didn't mess anything up, and sometimes i put information in tropical cyclone seasons with no citations (i get the in info from the infobox and just make a sentence off of it) etc. I don't use any VPN, and i don't even know how to use a VPN. So if you're kind enough, can my banning be resolved? Please? Trixlll (talk) 11:28, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- The mere fact that you posted here means you are not affected by a block. 331dot (talk) 16:39, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- The OP didn't mention a block, but a ban. They're different. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 00:04, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- 331dot Redrose64 the user is probably referring to their IP address (see their talk page) which is currently under a year block by HJ. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 00:09, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- They made an edit, and posted here, subsequent to their unblock request, so they aren't currently affected by a block, thoigh its possible they were when they made the request. Many people use block and ban interchangeably even though they are different. 331dot (talk) 01:17, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

- Also if i did any bad stuff to any articles please tell me please, i seriously want to know so i can avoid it next time (don't even know if my ban gets resolved) Anyways, i hope you read this in the future! Trixlll (talk) 04:45, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Trixlll the block was not aimed at you. And it appears you're correct that the specific IP address you were using is not a proxy. You've done nothing wrong but there are a lot of proxies on that range (group of IP addresses) that have been used to spread spam links, including from logged-in accounts. If it happens again, the important piece of information is your IP address. Make sure you include that if you ask about a block. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:13, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
