The battle saw huge casualties on both sides, though Pakistan managed to resist the Indian thrust.The Pakistani Armour though superior to the their adverseries was out numbered, the official estimates put the order of battle at 150 Pakistani tanks against 250 Indian tanks . The battle was fought with intensity and courage on both sides , at one point it seemed inevitable that Indians would breach through the defenses and besiege the city of Sialkot , however Pakistani tank forces and especially 25 cavalry thwarted the Indian efforts and Indian forces were forced to retreat .Both sides suffered heavy equipment and human losses.
