History

After establishment on 10 September, 2000, this centre came into function with its Coordinator Professor Shyam Lal Srivastava and Associated faculty members from Physics and Mathematics departments and 3 Research Assistants and 2 Technical Assistants recruited on NCAOR sponsored research projects during days 11-15 September, 2001 with the blessing of Syed Zahoor Qasim. University of Allahabad awarded 1st(twin) D. Phil in Science degree through this Centre on 18th September, 2007 under the able guidance of Professor Aviash Chandra Pandey who have taken opportunity to guide and registered under himself the five students out of seven students who awarded D. KBCAOS is ordinance wise a centre of the then State University of Allahabad (State University) and central university status regained of that University i.e. at present the University of Allahabad(Central University)

KBCAOS is the leading centre of the then state University of Allahabad and also at present central University of Allahabad which is one of the main responsible factor to seeks the 67 permanent faculty positions from University Grants Commission (India) for this central University in th·e initial stage in which 7 permanent faculty positions are its own. Active roll and devotion for KBCAOS, University of Allahabad of Dr. Vivek Kumar Pandey is more remember-able, remarkable and Land Mark for any institution. All five faculty members name are given in RTIs with their respective joining/appointment date in the KBCAOS in the first ever selection committee for the Atmospheric and Ocean Science held on 29th, July,2009. There is detail that Professor/Dr. Avinash Chand Pandey, Reader/Associate Professsor/Dr. Suneet Dwivedi and Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Dr. Vivek Kumar Pandey joined the KBCAOS on 29th October, 2009 and Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Dr.Shailendra Rai on 17th Novenber and Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Mr. Sudhir Singh on 21st December. At the initiative and inauguration of Murli Manohar Joshi, it was established on 10 September 2000 and fully founded by Prem Chand Pandey until the permanent faculty member came in the centre on 29 October 2009 with which this centre fully got its permanent foundation as full-fledged faculty centre status in the University of Allahabad. This is one of the eminent Atmospheric and Ocean Science centers of North India which deals with the atmospheric & oceanic phenomena. The Centre has produced about 7 D. Phil students till date who awarded the D. Phil in Science on its own resources. At present it is running the M.Tech Earth System Sciences course with D. Phil. It first came in function with its adjunct faculties from Department of Physics and Department of Mathematics, University of Allahabad, by running NCAOR, Goa funded research project in polar, atmospheric and ocean sciences in September, 2001. At present 5 permanent faculty members are giving their service to the centre.

According to very recent news from different faithful sources from centres and departments offices for new recruitment after 2008 in University of Allahabad, each and every centres and departments there are seniority based on joining time first and if joining time is the same for two or more thant two faculty members then this seniority is based on merit of the selection committee
