The Korean version of "Juliette", released as a digital single on May 17, 2009, was included as the lead track in Shinee's second Korean EP, Romeo, released on May 25, 2009. The lyrics of the song were written by Jonghyun and Minho, member of the band.
The accompanying music video was released on May 17, 2009. Krystal, of labelmate girl group f(x), made an appearance in the music video. The dance version of the music video was released through SM Entertainment's official YouTube channel on June 10, 2009. The music videos featured a dance choreographed by Rino Nakasone Razalan of SM Entertainment.
"Juliette" was released on August 29, 2011 as Shinee's second Japanese single with an original Japanese song "Kiss Kiss Kiss" as a B-side. It was released in three version: a limited edition type A included a bonus DVD, a can badge-type MP3 player including "Juliette", and a 68-page photo book. It also contained a randomly-selected trading card and digipak. A limited edition type B release also included the same materials as type A but minus the MP3 player. The regular edition included a bonus DVD and a 44-page photo book.
Promotion
Shinee promoted "Juliette" at Japanese music shows such "Music Japan", "Music Fair", and "Music Station". They also performed "Juliette"'s Japanese verion for the first time at SMTown Live '10 World Tour at the Tokyo Dome. "Kiss Kiss Kiss" was performed for the first time live on the "Odaiba Mezamashi Live" broadcast on September 13, 2012.
On August 8, 2011, EMI Music Japan released the music video for the Japanese version of the song. Fellow labelmate and actress, Go Ara, made an appearance in the music video. The music video featured the same distinctive Romeo and Juliette masks as well as the same dance as in the music video of the Korean version, choreographed by Rino Nakasone Razalan of SM Entertainment.
