Frank "Frankie" James Michael Grande Marchione (born January 24, 1983) is an American dancer, singer and producer. He is the older half brother of singer and actress Ariana Grande. He has performed in the Broadway production of Mamma Mia! and in other theatre productions, produced Broadway shows and appeared in cabaret acts. In 2014, he is appearing on the reality television show Big Brother.
Life and career
Grande grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, where he attended Pine Crest School. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania in 2005, having triple-majored in biology, theatre and dance. Soon afterwards, he appeared as Boots the monkey in a national tour of Dora the Explorer Live! (Dora's Pirate Adventure) and in regional productions including George M! and A Chorus Line. By 2007 he had joined the Broadway cast of the musical Mamma Mia! in the ensemble and as understudy for Eddie, in which he performed for three years. Grande was named "Mr. Broadway" in the "Mr. Broadway 2007" charity benefit. He also co-founded the non-profit arts organization "Broadway in South Africa", travelling to South Africa to work with disadvantaged youth in the townships.
Grande has produced shows on and off Broadway, including the Broadway productions of Hamlet (2009) starring Jude Law, La Bête (2010–11), starring David Hyde Pierce, and Born Yesterday (2011), starring Jim Belushi. Grande has performed in cabaret acts in New York City, including at Birdland Jazz Club and 54 Below. In 2013, he starred as Bobby in a regional theatre production of the musical Crazy for You. In February 2014, he starred Off-Broadway in a revival of the musical Pageant.
In 2013, Grande presented his own show in New York, Living La Vida Grande at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. He has also toured with Justin Bieber and his sister as a dancer. In 2014, Grande is featured in the television show Big Brother. His sister is singer and actress Ariana Grande. Grande is building a significant social media presence, and as of July 2014, he had over 200,000 YouTube subscribers with more than 10 million views, and more than 500,000 followers on each of Twitter and Instagram.
