Outlander is an upcoming television drama series on Starz set to debut in 2014. The series is based on the Outlander novels written by Diana Gabaldon. On June 25, 2013, Starz announced it had picked up the series for a 16-episode order with production slated to begin in October of 2013.

On July 9, 2013, it was announced that Sam Heughan was cast as the lead role of Jamie Fraser.
