Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Kendrick Lamar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Very high level of WP:BLP vandalism since recent ending of protection. STATic message me! 06:25, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Kathryn Bernardo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism and edit-warring by several IP addresses over the past two days. Areaseven (talk) 06:00, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
The Heritage Foundation (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Repeated deletion of sourced information by ip's without explanation. 76.117.234.85 (talk · contribs) was just blocked yesterday, and now 76.98.1.250 (talk · contribs) returns. I expect others will return/appear if we block him as well. --Ronz (talk) 04:23, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
List of Mafia characters (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recurring target by anonymous hoaxers posting patently false information about the characters' fates. As far as I know, Francesca's death, if she did die, wasn't explicitly mentioned ingame. Same with several others. Blake Gripling (talk) 03:40, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
User talk:Gfdsakjbvcjndksjnf (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary full protection: Inappropriate use of user talk page while blocked – Blocked user removed warnings. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:13, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Declined We don't do it that way, we just take away their talk page access. I will look into that. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 02:03, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
E-commerce (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Page vandalized to create a hoax, then posted to Reddit. Currently has ~1800 upvotes and people are coming here to vandalize further. . Sædon 23:48, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Boris Malagurski (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism – The page is being disrupted by auto-confirmed IPs, probably the same editor, dynamic IP from Japanese ISP. One week pending changes?. Peacemaker67 (send... over) 22:32, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Grojband (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – I'm requesting this again because the edit warring caused by a content dispute has continued, and the discussion that I started at the talk page has continued to be ignored entirely. Dogmaticeclectic (talk) 22:00, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
X (Chris Brown album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Unsourced edits and vandalism by IP editors. STATic message me! 20:13, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Robert A. J. Gagnon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – On-going edit war. Article at AfD, but it looks like to survive. . Stuartyeates (talk) 20:01, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
User:MascotGuy (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The first editor under this username is mentioned at Misplaced Pages:Long-term abuse/MascotGuy. The second iteration of the username was created specifically to prevent a vandal from recreating it. However, the page itself suffers from vandalism, though the vandalism seems to have subsided. Epicgenius 19:54, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Declined Last vandalism was 3 February 2010. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 02:09, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
List of programs broadcast by Teletoon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Dogmaticeclectic (talk) 17:57, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Andy Murray (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Constant changes to his nationality, all violating the current consensus/MOS. Somchai Sun (talk) 14:39, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Han-Nom (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – repeated revert of redirect due to 6-1 merge discussion (reverting by article creator, and the 1 dissenter in merge discussion). Gaijin42 (talk) 02:23, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- If you want to delete the article, AFD is the proper venue. This is a sleazy runaround. Kauffner (talk) 04:02, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: This is still edit warring and the 6-1 merge still requires page protection. In ictu oculi (talk)
- I once thought editors were supposed to write articles. But now I see that I underestimated the importance of vindictively blanking material written by others. Kauffner (talk) 11:36, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- There was a consensus to merge the article, Kauffner. This is not "vindictive blanking", nor is it "vandalism", as you've described it. Full protection is required. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 13:20, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- I call it vandalism and vindictive blanking because that's what it is. You could stop lying about me for a change. Kauffner (talk) 13:53, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Fantastic, a personal attack in there towards me as well - show me where I've ever lied about you, please. Just because you've got a vendetta against IIO, doesn't mean you should use every single opportunity to attack them. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 18:33, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- If you want to fight, take it to a talk page or noticeboard. This thread is over unless someone has something to say that relates to page protection. Gamaliel (talk) 21:12, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Can someone provide a link to this discussion which established this 6-1 consensus? Gamaliel (talk) 16:43, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- User:Gamaliel as relates to page protection the edit history on the page following merger shows edit warring. As relates to the 6-1, that is spread all over 3 separate Talk pages - the two original articles Talk:History of writing in Vietnam and Talk:Chữ nôm and the new article Talk:Han-Nom duplicate which has been merged. If page-protection is refused then a workable alternative to page-protection should be suggested. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:42, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- There have been several discussions about different proposals, none of which yield a 6-1 figure. If we are consolidating the opinions expressed in various places, Ultraexact had some kind words about the article. LiliCharlie, who helped write the article, supports it. White whirlwind supports using "Han-Nom" as a language template descriptor. As long as "Han-Nom" remains in use as a descriptor, there is a need for a Han-Nom article for it to link to. The article is all about the history of Vietnamese writing, as well as its current Unicode status. These are not exactly hot topics, and I had to translate a lot of it from Vietnamese. It was all original writing, although later copied to other places. IIO has been stalking me for a long time, and he canvasses editors with various grudges. Kauffner (talk) 01:58, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. This is obviously a problem that can not be solved by page protection. If the talk-page attempts prove unsucsessful, the next step would probably be a RfC.Lectonar (talk) 06:38, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Bad Girls Club (season 3) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

'Semi protection: Sock user won't give up. Keeps reverting edits and vandalizing boxing records. --TwoNyce 06:30, July 1 2013 (UTC)
- Question:. Can you say why this is a case of vandalism/socking rather than a regular content dispute? I can't tell from the diff. SlimVirgin 18:00, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- How not? The IP address keeps changing. And 9 times out of 10 it's the same IP with the comment below. Same thing also happened to the Timothy Bradley article and was temporarily protected for this same reason. --2Nyce 15:09, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
The only ones vandalizing the record tables are TwoNyce and his boyfriend Don Kings Hair. Both are making a complete mess when they edit the tables, leaving me to clean them up again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.98.85.135 (talk) 18:17, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
