Ian Rush (born October 20, 1961) is a Welsh footballer. He played for Liverpool F.C., and is their all-time highest goalscorer. In two spells with the club, Rush scored 346 goals in 658 league games.

In the summer of 1986, he was transferred to the Italian giants, Juventus in Serie A. His time at the club was less than successful, netting only seven times in 29 games. After one season, he was back at Anfield.

He once famously described his stay in the north of Italy as like being "in a foreign country".

He also played for the Welsh national football team for whom he scored 28 goals in 76 games. Unfortunately for the man from North Wales, he never got the chance to play in a major tournament for his country.

Later in his career he played for Leeds United F.C., Newcastle United F.C. and Wrexham F.C..

Ian Rush was mentioned in a famous British milk television commercial.

The advert featured two boys with strong Scouse accents in Liverpool Football Club shirts. After a game of football they talk about milk. The dialogue ran as follows:

Boy 1: "Do you want a drink?"
Boy 2: "Got any lemonade?"
Boy 1: "If you want!" (he takes a bottle of milk from the fridge)
Boy 2: "Milk.....Ugh!"
Boy 1: "It's what Ian Rush drinks."
Boy 2: "Ian Rush?"
Boy 1: "Yeah, an' he says if I don't drink lots of milk, when I grow up I'm only gonna be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley!"
Boy 2: "Accrington Stanley? ... Who are they??!"
Boy 1: "Exactly!"
Boy 2: "Gimmie some!"
Boy 1: "Gerroff!"
