KAME-TV is the MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station for the Truckee Meadows area of Northwestern Nevada. Licensed to Reno, it broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 20 (virtual channel 21.1 via PSIP) from a transmitter on Red Hill in Sun Valley. The station can also be seen on Charter channel 7 and in high definition on digital channel 787. Owned by Ellis Communications, KAME is operated through a local marketing agreement (LMA) by Cox Enterprises as sister to Fox affiliate KRXI-TV. The two stations share studios in Reno on Brookside Court on the eastern side of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. KAME-TV is also the sister station of Los Angeles station, KDOC-TV.

Syndicated programming on this station includes Family Guy, The Office, New Adventures of Old Christine, and My Name Is Earl among others.

History

It launched on October 11, 1981 as an Independent. On October 9, 1986, it became a charter Fox affiliate. KAME joined UPN in 1996 after KRXI signed-on and took Fox. Between September 1996 and May 1997, the station was briefly owned by Raycom Media. With the 2006 shutdown and merge of The WB and UPN to form The CW, the station joined News Corporation-owned and Fox sister network MyNetworkTV on September 5.

On June 20, 2012, Cox announced that it put KRXI and the LMA for KAME, along with stations in Steubenville, Ohio, Johnstown, Pennsylvania and El Paso, Texas, on the market following its purchase of four television stations in Jacksonville, Florida and Tulsa, Oklahoma from Newport Television. On February 25, 2013, Cox announced that it would sell the four television stations, and the LMA for KAME, to Sinclair Broadcast Group; as part of the deal, Ellis Communications will sell KAME to Deerfield Media.
