The Korean version of "Juliette", released as a digital single on May 17, 2009, was included as the lead track in Shinee's second Korean EP, Romeo, released on May 25, 2009. The lyrics of the song were written by Jonghyun and Minho, member of the band.
The single peaked at #39 on the weekly Oricon chart and remained in the chart for consecutively three weeks.
Music video
A teaser of the accompanying promotional music video was released on May 15, 2009 followed by the release of the full music video two days later. Krystal Jung, a member of fellow labelmate girl group f(x), made an appearance in the music video. The dance version of the music video was released through SM Entertainment's official YouTube channel on June 10, 2009. The music videos featured a dance choreographed by Rino Nakasone Razalan of SM Entertainment. Rino has also choreographed dances of other of Shinee's singles including Replay and Lucifer.
Juliette released on August 29, 2011 as their second Japanese single and Japanese original song "Kiss Kiss Kiss" as a B-side. It was released with three version, a limited edition type A includes a bonus DVD, a can badge type MP3 player including a song "Juliette", and a 68-page photo book. Also contains a trading card randomly selected from five kinds and digipak. A limited edition type B also same with type A but minus a MP3 player and a regular edition includes a bonus DVD and a 44-page photo book.
Promotion
Shinee promoted Juliette at Japanese music show such "Music Japan", "Music Fair", and "Music Station". They also performed Juliette for the first time as Japanese version in SMTown Live '10 World Tour at Tokyo Dome. "Kiss Kiss Kiss" for the first time they sang in live performance at "Odaiba Mezamashi Live" broadcasted on September 13, 2012 .
Music video
On July 18, 2011, EMI Music Japan unveiled the teaser for the music video of the Japanese version of the "Juliette" through their official YouTube channel. The full music video was released on August 8, 2011, through the same channel. Fellow labelmate and actress, Go Ara, makes guest appearance in the music video. The music video featured the same dance as in the music video of Korean version, choreographed by Rino Nakasone Razalan of SM Entertainment.
