Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Indefinite semi-protection: As per WP:UPROT. TOW talk 06:03, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Craig Thomson affair (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Disruptive behaviour by IP. This page needs considerable work - it currently has an "Incoherent" tag on it - and a SPA IP editor is disrupting editing work by removing sourced material, making personal attacks, changing section headings and inserting nonsense. Pete (talk) 02:17, 11 June 2012 (UTC) User:Skyring alias Pete has inserted poorly sourced and defamatory material into the article; removed any edit which might presume innocence on the part of the article's subject; baited other editors; and is using WP:GAME to throw BLP policy to the four winds. Please also note the abusive history of User:Skyring alias Pete. 121.216.230.139 (talk) 07:20, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Crystal Cathedral (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Crystal Cathedral organ (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection & Move protection A number of editors have responded to the announced future change of the building's name to "Christ Cathedral" by inserting the name into the article as if it has already happened (i.e. "also known as Christ Cathedral"), or by moving the article to "Christ Cathedral", both of which violate WP:CRYSTAL. A short period of protection would be helpful. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:47, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Argentina–Brazil football rivalry (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: This page is constantly attacked by vandals, most of them IP users. Since its creation, this page has been vandalized a hundred times. I suggest blocking indefinitely this page from edits by IP users. --Italodal (talk) 00:35, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – User:Alan.Ford.Jn is edit-warring to revert all edits I added that are sourced with reputable references without participating in any discussion. His reasoning: "Jesuislafete's edits are based on nationalistic propaganda". User:Alan.Ford.Jn has a scant edit history, and the past 2 months only been reverting a large scale of paragraphs from the page. --Jesuislafete (talk) 22:06, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism - It's happen again! Those IP Address user keep changing the article again and again with unreliable, false facts about the animation series. Television section got the huge vandalism act by those IP Address user. We in Malaysia never heard the news from the creator of this series or from their official Facebook status that mention about new TV channel is going to air the series as mentioned by those IP address user. American Third Position Party (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – User:Slaja is currently edit-warring to inject POV statements not supported by sources into the article (changing "white supremacist" to "white nationalist" without a source, and in contradiction of the many sources now cited). In his own words he is "never giving up". Evanh2008 04:13, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Update: We now have what looks like sockpuppetry at the article in question. Just FYI. Evanh2008 06:03, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Middle East (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute, involving myself. Other user is not participating in any talkpage discussions, despite my having even asked on their talkpage. I've posted some sources on talk, and in my edit summaries. They're not even using edit summaries anymore. Hopefully full protection will encourage them to use the talkpage and otherwise communicate, rather than having to go to AN/I or anything. CMD (talk) 22:37, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Imrana rape case (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP editing which is designed to cause very deliberate religious and sectarian offence. Whilst the matter is about and rape case in India it has global implications due to Sharia Law - have reverted Vandalism, but due to the nature of what was done and the implications should it happen again this page does warrant protection Indefinitely to protect from IP and Malicious account set up. . List of metropolitan areas in Europe (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: IP vandalism. IP uses sock-puppet: 86.52.91.242, 178.155.239.177, 86.52.114.226, 85.99.164.134 and also editing articles: Moscow metropolitan area and List of metropolitan areas by population. IP favors the city of Moscow, is based on sources that do not write about it, provides an unreliable source and unnecessarily creates a second table with the data without sources. Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
