Chris Pennell (born 26 April 1987) is an English rugby union player. He currently plays for Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership. He plays as a fullback.

His main education was at Old Swinford Hospital School in Stourbridge where he played a key part in their successful campaign to the semi finals of the Daily Mail Cup. Part of his primary school education was spent in Northern Ireland at Millington PS in Portadown were he was a member of the victorious Gilpin cup side in 1999.

Pennell is the son of former England cricketer Graham Dilley.

Worcester born and bred, Pennell represented England at Under 19 level and became a key performer for the club during the 2008/09 campaign until he suffered a serious knee injury in Europe.

The dynamic back returned to full fitness and grabbed tries against Connacht Rugby and Olympus Rugby XV Madrid in Europe during the 2009/10 season. He went onto to make 16 appearances during the campaign and score five tries.

Pennell’s commitment and determination to battle back from adversity have earned praise in recent seasons and his progress was shown when he signed a new two-year deal in February 2010.

Prodigious young talent Pennell has been one of the key performers at Sixways in recent seasons and has now been handed the captaincy as the club prepares for the 2010/2011 RFU Championship campaign.

The supremely talented and versatile back, a product of the Warriors Academy, first burst into the senior team during the 2007/08 season when he made his Guinness Premiership debut against Bath Rugby.
