Hi Member, {{welcome}} to wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions to Goleta Union School District and Brandon School. I hope we can keep Brandon School but unfortunately detailed lists of staff etc don't go down too well around here, but if you look at the wikiproject schools WP:PJSCH and maybe BEEFSTEW you can find things which are more acceptable to include. I think the Accountability Report Cards have a lot of usable info. Kappa 09:34, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Moving articles

Please do not move articles without discussing proposed moves on their talk page. The naming of national football teams in Misplaced Pages is standardised as "<countryname> national football team". -- Arwel 22:13, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Accra

What specifically in the Accra article do you think would benefit from a clean-up? While the article could benefit from expansion and perhaps division into sections, I'm not sure of the purpose of your tag. Warofdreams 23:40, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for helping to maintain the integrity of Misplaced Pages by tagging articles you see as requiring speedy deletion. Please note, though, that 'vanity' is not currently a criterion for speedy deletion, and such articles should be listed at votes for deletion. List of well known mathematical formulas

Hello. I am wondering what you are hoping to achieve with the article List of well known mathematical formulas. I am afraid that Wikipedians will get into long discussions about which formulas are well known and which are not. We already have a List of equations and List of mathematical identities; see List of lists of mathematical topics for more lists related to mathematics. So, what do you think? -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 20:09, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

I suppose it will go somewhere. If you don't like it then put it on hte VfD page and let the community decide. --Member 02:45, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

I can't really be bothered about it. However, somebody else nominated the article for deletion; see Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/List of well known mathematical formulas. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 13:25, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Anything faster than a one-hundered twenty eighth note?

Is there anything faster than a one-hundered twenty eighth note? --Member 01:14, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

I've never ever seen anything faster. Even the 128th note is extremely rare; it probably only occurs in highly ornamented, very slow pieces from the Baroque era, and a couple of the Beethoven piano sonatas (the Pathetique I think has them, and maybe the opus 111). Theoretically, of course, there is no limit to how many flags you could add. Hope that helps! Antandrus (talk) 01:20, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Ah, yes, my high school.  :-) There's already an article: Dos Pueblos High School, and it's not bad. Have a look! They will need to be merged/redirected. Antandrus (talk) 05:04, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Author citation (re Wollemia)

NPOV on Veganism

Hi member... Could you elaborate on the reasons for the NPOV tag you placed on Veganism? I and others have just gone through a long and tiring edit war with the veggie-brandishing hordes, during which the page was protected for like 10 days. The current version is what we came to by consensus, and I'd rather not upset the fairly delicate peace we have at the moment without a good reason. Cheers, Skinwalker 23:00, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

OK, no prob, as long as there's a good reason. I don't like that picture either. Please read the talk archives, and be careful; people can get really nasty over this issue. Cheers, Skinwalker 23:06, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Skinwalker, since when have you bothered about consensus? I am neither tired nor nasty.
Look at how you respond to individuals and their work at the very first occasion ; http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:Skinwalker#Vegan , all nature red in tooth and nail with your threats, aggressive and erroneous allegations. How many dishonest allegations of sock and meatpuppetry did we have to suffer in your attempts to silence consensus? You even went out of your way to try and organise a campaign against Canaen and block his wish to become an admin despite his effort to talk to you rationally . It has been one big trail of venom and spite from you in face of many individuals attempts.
Where is the reason and consensus?195.82.106.127 05:43, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Re: Misplaced Pages:Reference desk/Science

Please note that gravity doesn't slow down our thoughts (where the heck did you learn that).

According to current scientific theory, thoughts would indeed proceed more slowly in stronger gravitational fields relative to an area of lesser gravitation (although the effect would be very slight unless the field were very strong). This is a consequence of Einstein's theory of general relativity, which enjoys broad support from scientists. Just in case you're curious. — Knowledge Seeker 01:47, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Crusade move

Hey, if you're going to move a page, never, ever, do it manually like you did with the crusades page. And if you're going to move a page, don't move it to a worse title. Adam Bishop 02:07, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Well I assume what you did was try to move the page and discovered there was a redirect page already there, which had also been edited more than once...in that case you'd have to get an admin to delete the redirect. Copying and pasting the contents of one page into another means the edit history of the page is lost, which is bad. For the crusade article, it would also be a good idea to bring a move like this up on the talk page; that has also been done in the past and there is never any agreement about where to move it, so the best idea is to just leave it where it is. Adam Bishop 02:42, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

re. Direct domain

Yahoo and Google register domain names in the same way that anyone else does, by going to a domain name registrar and paying to register their domain names for a certain length of time (for example, the domain name "google.com" is registered through the registrar MarkMonitor until September 2011, when someone at Google will have to remember to send them some more money.) Who you need to go to, and how much it costs, varies according between top-level domains, but it doesn't cost much. Regarding your question, "Are there free or one time fee registars?", there is almost always an anual fee, although there are some sites that offer free domain names, typically in return for advertising - just type something like "free domain name" into google. -- AJR | Talk 23:50, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Request for edit summary

Thank you for your contributions. And I have a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries more often when you contribute. An edit summary helps others understand what you changed when checking the watchlist or the recent changes, and often times complements studying the diff. Think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. I hope you don't mind. :) Cheers – Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 00:55, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: Sibelius

I'm still unsure what you mean, I suppose because I haven't used Finale very much. What is "mass" copy and paste as opposed to ordinary copy and paste? Can you describe what you're trying to do, instead of how you would do it in Finale? rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 19:16, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

I guess I left your Sibelius question unanswered. You select multiple measures in Sibelius by clicking at one end and shift-clicking at the other end. (If you click in the empty space in a measure, you'll be sure to select the whole measure.) Then you can use Edit/Copy and Edit/Paste, or the option-click shortcut, to copy the selected measures. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 06:47, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:False potato beetle.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:False potato beetle.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law (see Misplaced Pages's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Misplaced Pages are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 02:08, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:NotionScorewriterProgramBigLogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:NotionScorewriterProgramBigLogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. License tagging for Image:H4-E1 Arms.png

Thanks for uploading Image:H4-E1 Arms.png. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

ADQ party colour

Regarding your changes to Template:Canadian politics/party colours/ADQ, you need to note that the colour you've insisted upon is too close to, and not easily distinguishable from, the colour already in use to designate the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. If you would like to propose a colour change, please discuss your reasoning at Template talk:Canadian politics/party colours, but do not revert it again without discussion. The party colour must be more easily distinguishable from other party colours than the one you chose happens to be. Thanks. Bearcat 06:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Dospueblos.dp.11953.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dospueblos.dp.11953.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:16, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

It sometimes takes two or three times. I wish you luck in the future. If you would like me too, I would be willing to nominate you in two mounths. If you want me too, let me know!

Good luck in these next few hours, and in the future,

Politics rule 00:04, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Request for adminship

On this occasion, your request for adminship was not successful. I hope that you will continue your useful contributions to Misplaced Pages and may consider standing again in future. Remember, many of the editors who did object are just keen to see more evidence that you are aware of current policies and applying them. Best wishes, Warofdreams talk 13:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Bueseal.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bueseal.png. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows quotes

Hello Member. Please do not add lists of quotes or quote sections to Misplaced Pages articles, especially when they do not contain any encyclopedic context. If you are interested in maintaining such lists, please refer to our sister project, Wikiquote and then cross-link to that site using the {{wikiquote}} template. Your RFA

Hi there. I'm really sorry but I had to close your RFA early, per WP:SNOW, as it didn't have much chance to succeed at this time. However, I feel you are definitely on the right track. Check out some of the oppose and neutral comments as there's quite a bit of useful stuff in there, and maybe wait a few months & get some more experience. I'm sure that if you do that and give it another go in a while, you'll succeed. Some admins here have gained adminship after 3 or 4 tries. Really sorry, though - Alison 18:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Goleta city seal.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Goleta city seal.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Misplaced Pages's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Loves Art

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject, or I happen to know personally).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Misplaced Pages articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:48, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Umberto II of Italy.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Umberto II of Italy.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Misplaced Pages's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Accotink2 talk 02:27, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I think they are notable if they have: 1) won regionals multiple times (I don't want to make an WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument, but they should be based on the same criteria for schools and other organization) or 2) have been widely noted in multiple secondary sources. Many FRC teams meet that criteria. Anyways, do you live in Santa Barbara? User:Antandrus is an administrator who went to Dos Pueblos High School. License tagging for File:Santa Barbara School Districts Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Santa Barbara School Districts Logo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Simbotics

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Simbotics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 23:35, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
