DYK for Jenny Silver

Updated DYK queryOn 16 April 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jenny Silver, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that singer Jenny Silver debuted with the Swedish dance band Candela, when it was signed to Bert Karlsson's label Mariann Grammofon? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

GA nomination of Murder of Sian O'Callaghan

Hi. Thanks for nominating the article for GA. Unfortunately I don't believe at this stage it is ready for the process as there is still much work to be done on it. The case is ongoing and the article's length is fairly short for a GA. My advice would be to withdraw it, do some more work, expand it and wait for further events to develop, then perhaps nominate it again in six months or so. A good idea in the meantime might be to request a peer review as this is always a useful way of getting feedback and deciding in which direction an article should go. You might also want to take a look at some similar articles which are currently GAs as these will give you some good guidelines on the type of information which should be included in the Sian O'Callaghan article. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 10:13, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

I agree with TheRetroGuy (you can see my comments at Talk:Murder of Sian O'Callaghan). I would like to add that for nominations (DYK, GA etc.) it might be courteous to notify other significant authors or editors of your intent to submit a nomination. This is especially true for Good Article nominations, which are quite a big step. However, with "Did You Know?", content editors get credited for their work and should be listed when submitting the nomination. Nominators aren't expected to credit all editors of the article, but those who have contributed a significant amount – for instance, this diff shows how I (with five edits by User:Jim Michael and two punctuation edits by you) changed the article from the original start class to pretty much what it is now, a B class. This tool may be helpful in identifying major contributors, but shows statistics on the number of edits, not on the size of content they've added, modified or removed. Thanks, matt (talk) 11:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Ok thanks for the good advice RetroGuy. I do that. Perhaps we can join forces and work on it together. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:42, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
I'd be happy to do that. I tend to keep an eye on current events, so will help update the page as information becomes available. TheRetroGuy (talk) 10:15, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
