Balrog, as he appears in Street Fighter II Turbo, for Super Nintendo

Balrog is a boxer in the Street Fighter game series, first appearing in Street Fighter II as one of the four bosses of Shadaloo. In comparison to the other characters of the series, Balrog is portrayed as a mediocre fighter and an utterly incompetent leader.

In Street Fighter: The Movie (1994), Balrog is a friend and co-worker of sumo wrestler Edmund Honda and Chun-Li Zang, and the three join the efforts of Colonel Guile to stop the reign of General M. Bison.

In the Japanese versions of Street Fighter II, Balrog was called M. Bison (an obvious Mike Tyson reference), Bison was called Vega, and Vega was called Balrog.
