Norkring is the leading provider of broadcasting services in Norway, operating one of the largest networks in Europe. The company is the owner of a large amount of terrestrial transmitters; 47 main transmitter sites and 2700 smaller sites containing more than 7000 transmitters spread throughout Norway. Norkring is established in Norway, Belgium and Slovenia.

Norkring has entered a period characterised by new demands, new markets of concentration, and new projects. After years of improving our products, services and knowledge, the focus has been enlarged and aimed towards a different market. We have seen an international market that can benefit from our know-how, and the time is right to pursue it. Norkring is taking a step closer to accomplishment of our growth strategy.
International subsidiaries
We wish to combine our gained competence with the worldwide experience that Telenor possesses in international business. Our goal is to help bridging the barriers that broadcasters are facing by sharing MUX-capacity among the broadcasters. Norkring is aiming towards becoming the leading digital network operator in the markets we enter, and support broadcasters to succeed.
History
The company was established in 1996 when the distribution section of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) was transferred to a separate company, to be owned by Televerket, later Telenor (40%) and NRK (60%). In 1999 Telenor bought the remaining of the company, with NRK concentrating on the content production.
