Commissioner's Trophy (MLB)
After removing that talk page banner, this is now the only portion of the soon-to-be-featured topic on Awards in Major League Baseball that isn't under this project's bailiwick. Additionally, I read the talk page discussion you pointed to, but I didn't really understand the consensus, nor do I agree with it. Could you clarify for me? KV5 (Talk • Phils) 00:16, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- The Commissioner's Trophy doesn't fall within the scope of WP:WPAW because it is an award handed out as a result of a competition, not as a result of a selection based on performance like the Nobel Prize. This is why the Stanley Cup, a FA, doesn't falls within the scope of the project also. Besides, just because this article doesn't fall within this project, doesn't mean the entire topic doesn't fall within this project. Of course, if you disagree, you can always start a new discussion, but this is where the current consensus stands.—Chris!c/t 01:02, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Request
Hi. First thing, Misplaced Pages:Featured list candidates/List of Oklahoma Sooners head basketball coaches/archive1 needs a review, so if you have the time, could you take a look? Second thing, the BBHOF list is not getting any reviewer love, and is just languishing at the bottom of the FLC list. Do you think we should withdraw it if it doesn't get any more reviews by the middle of next week, and re-submit after five days? Dabomb87 (talk) 17:14, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Does the BBHOF list has enough consensus to pass? It already has 2 supports and no oppose.—Chris!c/t 18:38, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Followed-up comment: If it doesn't have enough consensus, then I guess withdrawal or simply letting the nom ended as not promoted are the only options left.—Chris!c/t 22:51, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- I (obviously) can't close it. Anyway, I'll ask TRM to take a look. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:11, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Valued pictures and ITN in the WikiCup
Hi. I am contacting you on behalf of the WikiCup judges because you were involved in our previous points polling. Though most of the polls are now closed, we have restarted polls relating to the points value for both valued pictures and in the news entries. You are welcome to submit your votes here; the polls will be closing in a week's time. J Milburn (talk) 19:51, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Kiki Vandeweghe
I'm sure that this is just a misunderstanding on your part, but Kiki Vandeweghe has not been officially named head coach. Furthermore, even after his predicted official announcement, he will NOT assume operations as head coach until at least Thursday morning. That's right, he will not be the head coach of the New Jersey Nets in their NBA game Wednesday night. That position would that of Tom Barrise. KIKI VANDEWEGHE IS NOT THE CURRENT HEAD COACH. Thank you.Hoops gza (talk) 00:41, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hoops is right. The article says "Vandeweghe will take over at Thursday's practice and coach the Nets beginning with Friday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats", so we will have to wait a couple of days before updating. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:58, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- I guess if you argue on technicality that he has yet to coach a game, he is not the head coach. But I don't think that this is the right way to look at this.—Chris!c/t 03:28, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- True. But I don't think it's worth arguing over a technicality that is only temporary. Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 03:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!
To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
- Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
- Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
- Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
- Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
- Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
- Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! On behalf of the WikiCup judges, iMatthew at 03:41, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey there. Can you take a second look at the above FLRC? You !voted "delisted" a few weeks ago, but someone has started to work on the list, so if you could provide further suggestions for improvement, that would be great. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 00:39, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Tracy McGrady
Hey, are you sure this violates WP:NOT#FORUM? To me it seemed like a legit attempt to justify the content he added to his article, although it's quite assertive. I think it would be easy to argue that the current voting results violate WP:NOT#NEWS anyway. —LOL /C 23:05, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- I might have been a bit too quickly to revert. There has been persistent attempt to insert something about Tracy McGrady All Star Game promotion to various articles. I thought the edit has something to do with that. But it looks like I was wrong. So, I'll be more careful next time.—Chris!c/t 23:29, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

re: Differential
Fair enough. Actually, though, I really meant to say that you couldn't subtract averages at one significant figure. If you subtracted the exact averages, you'd be okay. I did assume that you were subtracting averages with one significant figure since the reference you provided at http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHI/1996/splits/ only gives averages with one significant figure and no totals. But I guess you were really pulling the data from somewhere else. Thanks for fixing up the table format. — Myasuda (talk) 03:14, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

List of National Basketball Association longest losing streaks
Hey, I liked what you did by sorting the winning streak list. Could you please apply the same thing here?--Hoops gza (talk) 23:54, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I am in the process of doing so.—Chris!c/t 00:03, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- 17 games is chosen to be the minimum because it is very difficult to find a comprehensive listing of lesser streaks, due to the fact that lesser streaks occur more frequently.Hoops gza (talk) 00:23, 29 December 2009 (UTC) Expanding the list is not a good idea imo.--Hoops gza (talk) 00:23, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
The issue I have with extending it to 16 games is that even the link you pointed out is no longer a comprehensive list since it is missing some 16 game streaks (both recent and past). In addition, that link does not include streaks that carried across two seasons; it only includes single-season streaks. This list is already likely to be missing several streaks that carried across two seasons, and if we were to extend the list to include 16 games, it would increase the number of missing streaks.--Hoops gza (talk) 01:15, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Fair enough, perhaps the NBA will update its official list at some point in the near future. That would obviously be helpful. Of course, there is also the added factor that the 16-game streaks are the least "notable". As teams continue to streak for more than 16 games, the 16 game streaks seem to "dilute" the list's notability more.--Hoops gza (talk) 01:32, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I have nominated All-NBA Team for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. The 2010 WikiCup begins tomorrow!
Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Misplaced Pages has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck! Garden, iMatthew, J Milburn, and The ed17 19:17, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 January newsletter
We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to Sasata (submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to Fetchcomms (submissions)- his artcle Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.
Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. Banned/suspended players
Well, I'm not sure. In normal usage, "suspension" implies a temporary dismissal, so it wouldn't be the same as a permanent ban. But I don't know how the NBA differentiates between the two terms.
It might be easier for you to focus on suspensions for on-court incidents. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about the druggies, or the guys who gambled in college. I can't think of any player who was permanently banned for an on-court incident. Not even Kermit Washington. Zagalejo^^^ 05:41, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the article: "National Basketball Association"
Hi Chris,
Countries in sports leagues (just like cultures in a democratic society) should be listed in their alphabetical order rather than strength (i.e. no. of teams) in order to be treated fairly. Thanks.
124.185.163.195 (talk) 12:20, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Andy
- There is no such rule on Misplaced Pages.—Chris!c/t 19:28, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi Chris,
What I said is a common sense, not a rule or anything, just felt unfair for Cananda, that's all. Besides, who made the rule for countries or whatever listed first to be 'more' important than others? Why can't you ppl reverse that thinking and treat things listed last on a list as the most important? If your theory is right, why do NBA home teams always list visiting teams first? Aren't their own teams more important than their visiting teams? Think about it man.
124.185.163.195 (talk) 08:12, 23 February 2010 (UTC) Andy
- Fairness is subjective and pretty much carries no weight on Misplaced Pages. If you really have a problem with it, bring the issue up on that article's talk page to see if you can get consensus to change.—Chris!c/t 19:15, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 February newsletter
Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.
Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. NBA infobox
Any idea how to change it from the current format to the NFL format?Beast from da East (talk) 05:00, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, I only support merging NBAretired into the active NBA player template. Since I am not an expert on template and the merging process looks complex, I suggest you talk to User:LOL to see if he can help.—Chris!c/t 19:49, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Fyi, we have to keep some of the parameter names that lack underscores; otherwise, there will be information missing when we replace the code of the NBA Player and NBAretired infoboxes because the current tranclusions use those (soon-obsolete) parameter names. Also, "birthplace" is actually a word in the dictionary, so I'd like to remove the underscore. —LOL /C 06:51, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
DYK for List of National Basketball Association season rebounding leaders
On March 12, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article List of National Basketball Association season rebounding leaders, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
Template:Infobox NBA Draft
Thanks for making the changes on the Template:Infobox NBA Draft and the subsequent changes on the draft articles, the infobox looks better without those "n/a" rows. Cheers! — Martin tamb (talk) 08:26, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- I just noticed that the recent changes made the infobox shifted down by one row (see the difference between the old version and the new version), which made the whole article also shifted down creating a blank row between "" and the first sentence of the lead. Both IE7 and Firefox3 browsers showed the same issue so it probably wasn't a browser issue. I tried to fix the issue and found that the gap would be gone if the "First selection" parameters was not an optional parameter. I wasn't really familiar with the infobox codes and couldn't understand why this happens. Maybe you can have a better opinion and solution for this. — Martin tamb (talk) 09:04, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- I notice that, too. But I don't know how to fix. So, I am going to ask someone about this.—Chris!c/t 17:04, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- For now, I just change the "First selection" parameter to non-optional since every draft must have a first selection.—Chris!c/t 17:20, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- Fyi, I think the mix of |- and <tr> causes a glitch. If you remove the wikitable row |- that immediately precedes <!-- end #ifexpr: -->, then the output doesn't contain a leading line break—at least in my preview. —LOL /C 02:58, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks—Chris!c/t 00:59, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

New bball page to clean up?
I think you do an awesome job at cleaning up and expanding basketball articles. I know you have a proclivity toward NBA pages, but I was wondering if you'd be interested in cleaning up List of basketball players who have scored 100 points in a single game? It's a page that I feel plays to your strengths (among them, the abilities to make a page very aesthetically appealing and to make list-pages fluid and interesting). If you don't want to I understand, but I just thought you might like to give it a shot. Cheers. Jrcla2 (talk) 15:51, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 March newsletter
We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. NBA Infobox 2.0
LOL has done an amazing job on the infobox and has done pretty much everything we have asked, are you ready to lauch it? Beast from da East (talk) 01:39, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for volunteering! Here's the .xml source. I left comments in the Find and Replace menu. You'll have to watch out for the former_teams update because the script might add "free agent" to it, and will not add the year range. Also, look out for any errors, especially in some of the more complicated tasks (such as league_link, former_teams, and highlights) because it's impossible to take into account all of the nonstandard entries, such as the case where there are two leagues in the league parameter. If there are any persistent errors, then let me know. —LOL /C 22:12, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I forgot to mention that you'll have to fill in draft_round for cases where only the overall pick is given. —LOL /C 22:37, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Hang on a sec, I found an error with the multiplication sign. —LOL /C 02:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Found it. You just need to modify the first Find and Replace entry; see this diff. —LOL /C 02:55, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Re: . What's the error and on what article did you find it? —LOL /C 03:18, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you have the problem with the multiplication sign because it just worked for me. My guess is that you copied it wrong when I asked you to do that fix earlier. I've just updated it to replace "-time" with the multiplication sign anyway, so can you update your settings again and give it another try? —LOL /C 03:36, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I've updated it again to avoid another Nate Robinson. Are you familiar with IRC? If so, then I'd rather message you there instead of bombarding your talk page. —LOL /C 03:59, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I never use IRC before. Do I need to install any software to use it?—Chris!c/t 04:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- Software would help if you knew how to use them, but for a quick and dirty way to get connected, go to http://webchat.freenode.net/ and join the channel #wpnba. I can idle in there tonight. I think the main drawback of the web client is you won't be prompted about any messages, but I suppose I can make a dummy edit on your talk page whenever there's something I need you to see. —LOL /C 05:05, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I think you should just disable the multiplication sign replacement since it doesn't seem to work for you. I don't know where the encoding error is coming from. —LOL /C 00:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I fixed the multiplication sign replacement through the Find & Replace window on AWB. So, it works fine now.—Chris!c/t 01:00, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I introduced an error with former_teams. —LOL /C 05:42, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

NBA All-Star Weekend H–O–R–S–E Competition
I know you're the guy to see when it comes to FL relating to NBA material, so I thought I'd toss the NBA All-Star Weekend H–O–R–S–E Competition article your way. I created it in June 2009 and have done 99.9% of the work on it as it stands right now, but given that every other NBA list (especially All-Star related) is a FL under your direction, I'm requesting that you top off this article to make it a FL as well. It will help add to your NBA featured topic(s) that I think you're trying to aim for. Plus, I have a lot of other college basketball articles that I have in my queue to clean up or create, and so I don't have the time or mental will power to finish this article off to be a FL. Could you help out, and if it becomes a FL then we'd both get due credit as the major contributors? Jrcla2 (talk) 22:23, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- It looks good and I don't mind helping. But unfortunately it is way too short to be an FL. The unwritten rule is that a list has to have at least 10 items.—Chris!c/t 23:15, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ahh I didn't know that. Oh well, only 8 more years until it's eligible haha. Jrcla2 (talk) 00:02, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Steal and block leaders
Great job on both lists, now the five major statistics are complete! By the way, are you planning to submit a DYK for both of them? — Martin tamb (talk) 10:17, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- No. If you want, you can do the DYK.—Chris!c/t 23:41, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, it's done, hopefully the nominations is successful and will increase the page view for both lists. — Martin tamb (talk) 08:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
You have an error on the steals article. You forgot to include John Stockton as another player who has won two steals titles. Drew Barton —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.134.58.226 (talk) 15:06, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter
Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to ThinkBlue (submissions) and Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive.
Judge iMatthew has retired from Misplaced Pages, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Chicago Bulls FT
Have you thought of pursuing a WP:GT or WP:FT with the Chicago Bulls. I see you and Zagalejo (talk · contribs) have taken both List of Chicago Bulls head coaches and List of Chicago Bulls seasons to WP:FL.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:14, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- I did but I have never written an FA before. But if you want to help, then that would be great.—Chris!c/t 04:21, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- I would suggest two things. 1. Inquire at WP:FTQ about what articles would make a complete set. 2. start out by shooting for a WP:GT. (I.e., get the Bulls up to WP:GA level first). Zagalejo (talk · contribs) mentioned on my talk page that he did not want to do it by himself, but that he would help out. - Seeing the topic, most of the lists are uninteresting to me. I might help out on the stadia (especially the past ones) and the overall Bulls article if this gets going.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:35, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- The only two articles that I would commit to would be the two old stadia. The full Bulls article is a bit much for me to drive, but I would help out and the same for the United Center. I don't like to get involved in highly active pages that take a lot of monitoring work. I am not much of a page watcher. I like pages that I can create and let go.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

List of National Basketball Association players with 1000 games played - coloring
However, for coloring, would conventions require that the entire line be highlighted, as opposed to just one spot on a line? In addition, active players and Hall of Famers had the same color when you did it. Just make sure that active players are one color, and Hall of Famers are another (Shaquille O'Neal was in the color for Hall of Famer). --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 02:55, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
