Rollback (add request)
User:GT5162
- GT5162 (talk · contribs · deleted · count · AfD · logs · block log · lu · rfar · spi) (assign permissions)
- I have been patrolling Special:RecentChanges and I have found that some people (usually unregistered users) make several vandalising edits within a short period of time, which take a lot of time to revert manually. Although I have not been editing at Misplaced Pages for very long, I understand how to revert vandalism and I believe that I will find this tool very useful. GT5162 (talk) 19:17, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Done Remember to only use rollback for clear cases of vandalism. Tiptoety 19:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- I'm spending a lot of time on sports-related pages such as Najeh Davenport and Steeler Nation, where IP vandals consistently make two or three or four edits at a time and then come back to start over a few hours later. Bdb484 (talk) 17:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- This is my second go at rollback, with this being the first. I am seeking rollback because for most of the afternoon, I've been a general Wikignome, nominating six pages for speedy deletion (of which four were deleted, see this for more details), two reports to WP:UAA (see User talk:JenniferVariety and User talk:Clinimetrics), and most of all, I reverted a generous amount of vandalism, as well as this POV push. Granting me access to "the big guns" would be most appreciated. →Dyl@n620 01:15, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- Because my hobby to relax is doing RC patrol. Somehow, I think this will make it more enjoyable. Right? :P Cerejota (talk) 01:13, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Done - Although, I'm a bit concerned by your edit warring in January. Just remember to use rollback only for clear cases of vandalism. –Juliancolton 01:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- I have been recently fighting a large number of spam and vandalism edits made to the Download Festival page. There have been a huge number of vandalsim edits in recent days mostly adding incorrect facts and often offensive comments as well. Having the roll back permisssions would greatly help in dealing with this vandalism.

- I have recently been monitoring Recent Changes and Random article and would like this permission to more effectively combat vandalism. This permission would have greatly helped me with a recent vandalism spree of Joe Mauer. I am a very conservative vandalism undo-er and often pass over what could likely be vandalism in favor of assuming good faith. KuyaBriBri 18:50, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- I've have been doing anti-vandalism edits for a long time. I only recently found about this feature. I feel that it would reduce the amount of time that it takes for me to do what I am already doing. Jpoelma | Talk | cont 17:34, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- Not done Evidently, you have to be more careful. — Aitias // discussion 17:48, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I was actually going to accept this request when I saw this decline. I found nothing wrong with all the other reverts I looked at, and surely that one mistake (that anyone, including myself, could have made and have made) won't hinder an otherwise good vandal-fighting record? Acalamari 18:01, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. One mistake isn't enough to offset numerous other accurate reverts. –Juliancolton 18:07, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, I said "all the other reverts I looked at", which included the recent reversions, which looked fine. I did not go back to September, as that was several months ago. Acalamari 18:14, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I for one usually review at least the last 50 reverts and if an user does not revert that much —like User:Jpoelma13— they may go back a few months... — Aitias // discussion 18:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- I agree with Acalamari and Julian - a couple of obvious mistakes that anyone could make, that were made months ago should not hinder a request for rollback. Majorly talk 22:23, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think the last 50 edits are not a good basis for granting the tool. In my case, I do not do reverts in one day, but would voraciously do the thing after that day or the day after. Perhaps the last month, or the last 1000 edits. You know, we do not just devote our time reverting those vandals. --Efe (talk) 13:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- I've looked through more of Jpoelma13's edits, dating back into late last year, and I still see plenty of good reverts, and only those two mistakes. I don't know why this user can't have rollback; plenty of other users have made similar errors, and rollback is, after all, a simple tool and not a big deal. Acalamari 17:58, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have given my reasons for declining. As far as I can see they are deemed appropriate by at least another administrator (User:Efe). After all, there's no need for a further discussion on this page. I have decided to mark this request as not done and there will be no reversing of that by me. Therefore there's no point in a further discussion on this page. So, Acalamari, if you think it's reasonable to do so, please go to WP:AN or take any other action you deem appropriate. - I am a long time reader and sometimes writer for wikipedia, recently started contributing more and also watching the recent changes pages, and undoing vandalism, what kinda takes some time if there are four or five edits and you have to undo all of them. - I feel it would be a more efficient way of fighting vandalism on Misplaced Pages. I already use Twinkle, and I think that rollback would augment this nicely. Additionaly, Twinkle does not work sometimes(like right now). Thanks. WackoJackO 15:47, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- I'm not online terribly often, but when I am I spend most of my time reverting vandalism. I currently us Lupin's Anti-Vandal tool to filter recent changes to watch for vandalism, and I'm just beginning to use Twinkle. I think the rollback option would be very useful. Thanks for your time! - Done I'm not bothered about the inactivity side. You have enough edits and reasonable vandal-fighting experience. PeterSymonds (talk) 14:51, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
