Hello Kate. Since the switch to MediaWiki 1.5, the daily-article-l script hasn't been working. The only output it returns is "Error: Forbidden". Thank you very much for any insight and help you can offer with this.

PS: The pretty flower on your userpage isn't so pretty any more...just letting you know :) -Frazzydee| 29 June 2005 15:10 (UTC)

ps. finlay fixed the flower :) thanks

Interested in an L.A.-area Wiki meetup?

It appears as though L.A. has never had a Wiki meetup. Would you be interested in attending such an event? If so, checkout User:Eric Shalov/Wikimeetup.

Your recent revision of User talk:127.0.0.1 doesn't strike me as very good. I was about to revert and leave a "{{test}}" here, but since it seems you are an experienced wikipedian who knows what she is doing, I figure I will give you a chance to explain it. User:127.0.0.1 may not be a page commonly found, but that doesn't make it a sandbox. How is "test" better than redirecting to an explanation? LizardWizard July 2, 2005 05:03 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Searchsize

Hi,

Thanks for creating MediaWiki:Searchsize. I am unable to edit that page. I would like to change '$1KB ($2 words)' to '$1 kB ($2 words)'.

It would then

Would you be able to make the change for me? Regards Bobblewik  (talk) 7 July 2005 20:33 (UTC)

Kate's Tools

You're the Kate of Kate's Tools, correct? I saw you in former administrators and I'm wondering why you gave up admin rights? But also I wanna mention the 6 Degrees Tool seems to have not been working since Wiki 1.5. If you're the wrong Kate then sorry. Redwolf24 9 July 2005 09:45 (UTC)

Stats

Great work getting the stats back! :) →Raul654 02:06, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

PS - two questions: (1) I saw in the signpost that the article counts are based on statistical surveys, and not actual hit counts. What % of hits are actually being surveyed? (I want to know the factor to multiply by to get the approximate hit count). (2) Also, what kind of sampling are you doing? (Psuedo)Randomly from a single squid? From multiple squid? →Raul654 02:51, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

edit counter

Hi - Did you happen to notice Misplaced Pages:Village pump (technical)#Kate's Tool? I've verified my count also seems to be stuck (although I really don't care). This is clearly not a very high priority item, but if there's some problem where the count it reports is simply wrong you might want to change the cgi to report something like "temporarily out of order" or "due to technical reasons, count reported is not current but as of ...". Just a suggestion. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 04:44, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

Tool note.

Hey, don't forget that I said you should add the new pages made count to the edit count tool :) --Phroziac (talk) 19:44, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

Kate, I once posted this as a message to you. This was about your anarcho-dissolutionism.

What if someone did not want to be a nomad? Who would enforce this nomadism? Who would decide who goes where?

It would be interesting how pregnancy and children would be handled.

Photos

On http://pics.livejournal.com/keturner/gallery/0000357d you say that two photos of Jimbo were taken by Jimbo. Is this really true? anthony 23:47, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Six degrees of separation tool

I think there should be an option to not consider articles on years/decades/centuries/etc. since these link to articles on widely varying topics which are otherwise unrelated and spoil the fun of the tool. -- Paddu 05:29, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks!!!

Thanks so much for fixing my problem at the Wikcionario! I can log in again! Cheers, es:Wikitionary:ecelan

Multiple counts on Kate's Tools

Hi Kate - are you the developer of the addictive wonderful Kate's tool? I am a (technologically-backward) researcher who want to study about anonymous editing on the Wiki and hoping to get the editing count of about 800 users. I am wondering if there is any tool or script that can help me obtain the data more effectively as compared to me running all the user names / IPs individually for 800 times then pasting the results on excel? Thanks so much in advance for your advice. researchinganon 28 July 2005 06:15 (UTC)

wiktionary tag - moved this message from all over the place, grace a Raul

I've never subscribed to the newsletter, but isnt there something like a daily wiki email inculding wikiquote's quote of the day, and pedia's Article of the day. Is there a Wiktionary contribution to the newsletter? If not, I've been working on Wiktionary:Wiktionary:Interesting new entries, and maybe some of these can be put into the newsletter. What do you reckon? --Wonderfool t(c) 14:32, 28 July 2005 (UTC). Please reply here, and at my talkshow page. Cheers

The rc dumper

It's been offline for quite a while now. Any chance you could start it back up? Or is it too early? Inter\ 13:40, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Suggestion for Refining Kate's Tool

Hi Kate, thank you for coming up with Kate's Tool. I am a recent member of Misplaced Pages and I have found your software very useful, after I had lost count of the number of contributions that I had made.

There are times, however, when after posting an edit, I found that I had overlooked a very minor mistake, such as a single typo, and went back immediately to re-edit.

When I looked at your edit count, the re-edit is counted as another contribution. Would it not be better to merely count the number of articles edited? Would appreciate very much if you can take a look to see if it is viable to incorporate my suggestion into your software. PM Poon 08:00, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

The box on your user page

How did you create that box with periods, commas, colons, and other symbols? XYZ123 00:59, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

Stats

Hi Kate, Mav asked me to reintroduce total page views and total unique visitors per month into wikistats. In the past I parsed webalizer output for that. He thought you do or could supply those with your script. Is there anything like that available in a computer readable format, totals per month, also for previous months? Where are your tools?

Hi!

I read on the german wikipedia about a tool you wrote to get the shortest connection between two articles. I'm interested in probing the Small world phenomenon on wikipedia and therefor interested in that tool. Where can I get it?

Pls answer here or on my page. The page of the wikilink-project is http://de.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Wikipedistik/Verlinkung . It' in german, but you'll get the clou...

cheers, szs (de.wikipedia.org) 15.8.05

Love your six degrees tool

Hi. I love your six degrees tool. Try "quantum" and "surfing" and you get the most hilarious connection. - Tεxτurε 21:54, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

edit count tool

Hi - I don't know if you've noticed, but template:user now generates a link to the edit counter tool. Unfortunately, for usernames with blanks in them the link doesn't work unless the blanks are replaced with %20. I assume usernames with blanks are really stored in the DB with underscores (like article names), but using underscores in the tool URL doesn't seem to work. I don't quite understand this, but do you suppose you could change the tool so that a username with an underscore is interpreted as the correct user? Again, clearly not a high priority or particularly urgent item. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 23:39, August 15, 2005 (UTC)
