It will come into being in the 30th Irish general election, and spans the entire area of the two counties in Leinster. This territory is currently represented through the current constituencies of Longford-Roscommon and Westmeath. Its creation will eliminate the breach of the Leinster-Connacht provincial boundary caused by Longford-Roscommon.
