Revision as of 11:38, 5 February 2007 by Ghepeu (talk | contribs) (rv to Idleguy (POV, bad writing))(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)The Battle of Chawinda was a tank battle, fought as part of the Sialkot Campaign in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. The battle saw huge casualties on both sides, though Pakistan managed to resist the Indian thrust.
In Pakistan, the battle holds nationalist sentiment as it is one of the few secured by the Pakistan army in a war that saw battles like Battle of Asal Uttar, in which the Pakistan army suffered world record scale damages at the hands of rival India. Unlike the battle of Asal Uttar and other tank battles of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, the battle of Chawinda saw the Pakistan army resist the Indian thrusts.
