Yifat Zahi Kirel
Yifat Zahi Kirel was born in 1964 and is an Executive Director in the fields of Media and Culture in Israel. Since 2022 she has been Chief Executive Officer of Tel Aviv’s Cameri Theatre, the first woman to serve as CEO since the Cameri Theatre was established in 1944.
Early Life and Education
Yifat Zahi Kirel was born and raised in Jerusalem. She holds a B.A. in Economics, an M.A. in Economics, and an M.B.A. from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Media and Television
In 1989 she began her career in the media as Director of Economics and Marketing in the newly established Second Authority for Television and Radio. In 1992 she served as Chief Financial Officer of Keshet-Rol Ltd. In 1993 she was appointed Business Manager of 103FM Radio, where she was a founders’ team member. She was also a founding member in the establishment of Charlton, the television broadcaster which holds the rights to broadcast international and Israeli soccer and basketball league games. Subsequently she was joint-CEO of TV3. In 2001 Zahi Kirel was a founders’ team member of “News24” and in 2005 she became Vice President of Israeli TV’s Channel 10 News, Israel’s second largest news desk, which eventually became “News 13.”
Cultural Institutions
In 2006 Zahi Kirel was appointed CEO of Jerusalem Theatre. During her 16-year tenure and thanks to her bold initiatives, Jerusalem Theatre underwent a massive renovation, expanded its repertoire and the audiences it reached, and launched collaborations with the Jerusalem Orchestra East West and the Mikro Theater. Under her management Jerusalem Theatre became a vibrant cultural and culinary center. Since 2022 Zahi Kirel has been CEO of Tel Aviv’s Cameri Theatre.
Board of Directors
Yifat Zahi Kirel served on the Board of Directors of some of Israel’s largest corporations: Mekorot (1996-1999), Bezeq International (2000-2001), Sherover Foundation (2006-2019).
Personal Life
Yifat Zahi Kirel lives in Tel Aviv. She is married and has three children.
