Revision as of 19:23, 15 November 2005 by Djegan (talk | contribs) (remove cat, not geo)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)The Longford-Westmeath parliamentary constituency existed for many decades, but was dismantled in advance of the 1992 election. It was re-created by the 2004 Constituency Commission Report on Dáil Constituencies, and will come into being in the 30th Irish general election. The new Longford-Westmeath constituency will combine all of County Longford and most of County Westmeath (the north-eastern part of County Westmeath, around the towns of Castlepollard and Delvin, will be combined with part of County Meath in a new Meath West constituency). Its creation will eliminate the breach of the Leinster-Connacht provincial boundary caused by Longford-Roscommon and eliminate the separate existence of the Westmeath constituency.
