Hi Giantsshoulders--

I see you've been doing some major editing to the Canna (plant) article. You note that there are two major (and somewhat differing) classifications of the genus. It would be very helpful if you could include publication citations of these two treatments in the article. MrDarwin 14:26, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Giantsshoulders 16:06, 5 September 2006 (UTC) Citations added to the main Canna article.

Thanks! I've worked on this article in the past but I don't have a copy of Tanaka's revision so I never edited any of the taxonomic part. One note though: I see you have also been editing the species articles, e.g., Canna indica. Please note that, unlike zoological names, the author citations for botanical names include the combining author as well as the basionym author, e.g.: Canna indica var. sanctae-rosae (Kraenzl.) Tanaka. You should be able to get the names from either IPNI or Tropicos. MrDarwin 16:23, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

--Giantsshoulders 13:09, 8 September 2006 (UTC) Thanks, I wasn't aware of the authors requirement, are they OK now?

License tagging for Image:Micropropagation.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Micropropagation.jpg. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Category:Canna

Regarding this category, it's redundant with Category:Cannaceae because the family is monotypic and has no other genera. It is therefore unnecessary and I will nominate it for deletion again. Cheers, --Rkitko 13:00, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Question about contributions

Following on the above work, I looked through your contributions and another user's contributions (CannaCollector) and wondered if you might be using two accounts. The contributions are similar including the language used when creating a new article ("ORIGINAL"). Forgive me if this is not the case, but it is against Misplaced Pages policy to use sockpuppets. If you'd like, I believe they can merge one user account into the other. Cheers, --Rkitko 14:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, they and a couple of others including at least one IP appear to be one, a check user run to see if they were Brya socks already confirmed they use the same IP, see Brya's talk page for more information. However, the various accounts don't appear to be attempting to hide anything like the fact that they are sock puppets, or using the accounts to hide anything or double their voting or anything at all. KP Botany 21:22, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
True, it's not a sockpuppet situation, but it is mighty confusing and Misplaced Pages policy is that one editor should only have one account unless for a very specific reason (like a Bot account or one instance of another user running an account to host all the userboxes). So if they are indeed all the same editor, the accounts should be merged. --Rkitko 02:13, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
I have both accounts because I can never remember user names and passwords, and as I post from several locations I refer to locally written down details. I have no problem with them being merged, I'll just make an effort to get better organised. I was not aware of the term sockpuppet and it's implications until this message. How do I get the accounts merged? Giantsshoulders 15:47, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I assumed that was the case, that you simply used different accounts because you lost a password or whatever, as I've done the same thing, but didn't want to quite say that. I don't know how you get them merged. I will ask and find out from a brand new and eager admin. This will resolve the issue. KP Botany 19:33, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
