ANI censors Signpost editor

There is nothing hilarious about this month's humour column of The Signpost.

Despite our efforts to pull the magazine into life again over the past five months, not only are people not really interestred in producing it, but those who tried have been met with some of the most contemptible behaviour from the community, open threats to destroy the magazine, and the Misplaced Pages community muzzles a regular column through an application of the 'broadly construed' clause in Misplaced Pages's topic ban texts.

Barbara Page, who edits legitimately as Misplaced Pages Visiting Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh since 2015, has been writing a regular humoour column for The Signpost since July 2017. She has added content to a wide range of Misplaced Pages subjects, nearly 47,000 edits and creating over 170 new articles from her two accounts. Often letting her inspiration flow from the university's historical collections, in March 2018, Barbara celebrated 11 years as a Wikipedian.

The terms of a topic ban issued by a consensus at ANI, precludes Barbara from editing practically all areas of the encyclopedia where she is active, including The Signpost. Barbara, whose intended article in her usual column this month has been censored by the terms of the ban for simply mentioning the names of two pioneers of human psychology and including humouristic links on health in a template. Barbara has accepted the terms of the ban.

Married for over 35 years, Barbara is a mother of six grown children and five (soon to be six) grandchildren.

Editor's note: This effectively provides the Signpost editorial team with the very argument to follow in the Foundation's footsteps and take the publication to WordPress where it can exercise full control over its content and readers' comments.

    • Do you mean that Barbara got TBanned from the signpost at ANI? Too bad I didn't see the discussion. Could someone please ping me if she appeals it please? L293D ( • ) 15:06, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
    • What is ANI? All I can tell is it is named after Ani, who is implied to be a mascot for the pirates. So maybe it has something to do with feminism? And what topics were banned? they cannot do that, or is Misplaced Pages suddenly not protected under the 1st amendment. Now they are trying to censor us! I say she --woah that got political, sorry-- but this is wrong and someone should ask her what got banned. you know what? I am, she does not have to listen to them because they probably threatened her reputation. Also I think that if the Wiki's leaders are for what they say they are, They should stand behind her as I do.Billster156234781 (talk) 21:53, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
    • Oh wait a minuite, AN/I is an admin thing. I did not not know that as I am new, ummmmmmm... so..... sorry, I retract that statement. The topic ban was on human health, was she writing humour articles about sexual health? okay I guess thats fine. But the editor needs to spell it right or I might have ranted on and on about this obscure feminist organization that does not exist.Billster156234781 (talk) 22:01, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
    • Silly me I thought this had to be satire, but then I realized it was Misplaced Pages and quite probably true.--Shim shabim (talk) 04:48, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
