Secular Humanism

2ct7,

I support the recent changes you've made to the secular humanism article. Just one point i'd like to make though, with regards to secular humanists rejecting ritual. I'm not all knowledgeable when it comes to this subject but I do know the Irish humanist association offer alternative rituals for birth, marriage and death. They of course are optional but it would be going to far to suggest that, at least this secular humanist body, 'rejects' ritual.

Please observe Misplaced Pages talk page practices

I am attempting to sort out problems discussed at Talk:Humanism, but am having a hard time discerning the flow of the dialog because editors are not following proper talk page practices. Several that I notice you are not following are:

  • Add new topics by using the "Post a comment" ("+") tab, which starts the new topic at the bottom of the page.
  • Sign you talk page postings with four tildes (~~~~), which is converted upon saving the edit into your user ID and timestamp. This makes clear who is posting and when they did so.
  • Use the edit summary to include a few words describing the contents of your post.

You may not be the only one, but by not doing any of these, you have become the most obvious editor on that page whose mess I am trying to untangle. Please help us by using these practices in future edits. Thank you. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 08:43, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

My apologies if the above seemed a bit brusque. After more reading, I see that you have signed some of your posts. My primary concern is trying to restore a proper chronological flow to the talk page as a first step to making it possible for outsiders to follow the discussion, but I've just found that the entire content was removed by another editor and then restored in fits, making this task considerably more complicated. I'm not sure I have the time to untangle this now, let alone read it. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 08:58, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
