Jeb Bush is an American Republican politician who served as the Governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007 and who is considered to be a potential candidate for the Presidency of the United States in the 2016 election.

Abortion

Bush believes abortions should only be legal in the case of rape or incest or if the life of the mother is in danger. He does not support public funding for abortion clinics.

Affirmative Action

He has stated, "I oppose guaranteed results through quotas and set asides. However, I believe it must be an important state goal to hire people who reflect the diversity of Florida and to provide opportunities that might not otherwise exist."

Climate change

Bush has questioned the scientific opinion on climate change, while stating "I think global warming may be real," and "It is not unanimous among scientists that it is disproportionately manmade. What I get a little tired of on the left is this idea that somehow science has decided all this so you can’t have a view."

Education

Bush supports the Common Core State Standards Initiative.

Foreign relations

Bush agrees with his brother George W. Bush that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was necessary, and that the lack of focus on post-invasion security was a "blunder".

Gay rights

Bush previously argued that gay individuals did not deserve special legal protection. In 2015, he said that 'people should accept court rulings that legalize same-sex marriage and "show respect" for gays in committed relationships, while reiterating his long-held belief that "marriage is a sacrament"'.

Medical marijuana

In 2014, Bush opposed an initiative to legalize medical marijuana in Florida and encouraged voters to do the same.

National security

Bush supports the continued collection of metadata of phone calls by the National Security Agency.
