The People's Republic of Donetsk (Russian: Донецкая народная республика) is a breakaway administration declared on April 7, 2014, that is currently occupying the Regional Administration Building in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The People's Republic of Donetsk have announced a referendum on independence from Ukraine and "whether or not the region should get incorporated in to the Russian Federation" will be held "no later than ."
De-facto the region is known as part of Ukraine, as Donetsk Oblast.
