::I mean absolutely no disrespect and please don't take this the wrong way but I would really appreciate it if you would do 2 things for me. (1: please try and adjust how you edit other peoples work. EDITING: is the act of making small changed to something to improve it's overall quality. DELETING is the act or removing something so that it can never be edited. You have quite possibly gotten these two things confused over the years. Understand that if you don't agree with something that you should try editing it rather than deleting it is the best way to do something. and (2: I need you to find a random length of rope. The Roots categories deleted?

Hi. It looks like you recently deleted several categories from The Roots. They are categories that seem to apply. Can you please explain? Does wikipedia have any guidance on which categories should be and should not be included with an article? Thanks in advance. Jean15paul (talk) 21:30, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Those categories were redundant as they were parent categories of some that I kept. more info Andrewlp1991 (talk) 21:45, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for making me smarter :) Jean15paul (talk) 23:07, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Regarding this, thanks for fixing the dead links. But in that edit, you also remove some of the archived links. I actually think it is a good idea to keep those in case the links became dead again.—Chris!c/t 02:29, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Moore not Irish-American?

Hi, I'm confused by your recent change of the Michael Moore page. As far as I can tell, his dad is of Irish descent. Also, the article still has the CAT American writers of Irish descent. Respectfully, -PrBeacon (talk) 05:57, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Susan Lucci -- Film actors category

Hey, Andrewlp1991. I'm thinking whoever put her there (in that category) did so because of her made-for-television movie appearances. But, yeah, I would think "film actor" is reserved more for the big screen roles/stars. Flyer22 (talk) 19:27, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

How to archive citations?

I'm wondering how to archive citations to prevent linkrot. I see you have an archive.org archiveurl link. Could you please explain how to do this so I can consider doing this with my own cites? Parents Television Council

Dear Andrewlp1991 - While it may be tempting to do so, please remember that other people have spent significant time on Misplaced Pages articles. Before ripping out entire sections that have existed for a long time with a pithy comment, please have a heart and bring it up in talk. Thanks. Lexlex (talk) 06:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Dear Andrewlp1991. Again, please discuss your changes in talk. Your changes are disruptive, without merit and can be considered vandalism. Please remember that all work is reversible. Doing it the right way, with community involvement, is preferred. Your massive changes to the article are not welcome and rude. Please start the new year being polite, this is ridiculous. Lexlex (talk) 06:56, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Drew Brees

My bad on the category. Although technically, isn't an alumni a graduate, and therefore it is possible that somebody was a football player at a college but never graduated, and therefore is not an alumni? –CWenger (talk) 22:04, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Alumnus can be any former student, graduated or not, of a college/education institution, according to definitions cited in Misplaced Pages's own entry. That's why college athletes are categorized as alumni regardless of graduation status. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 22:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Removing valid categories from basketball articles

Hello- I have a request. I have run across a couple of instances where you have deleted valid categories from basketball player articles. The first was David Lee where the Parade All-American category was removed and the second was Brian Scalabrine where the Junior College player category was deleted. I added these categories working from valid sources and it is difficult to ensure that they "stick" because I just can't track every page they are on (900+ pages in the case of the Parade category). Adding that volume, I also can't rewrite the article in every case either. My request is that before you delete an unsourced category in this way, please make an attempt to verify it and possibly add the reference yourself instead. In the case of Scalabrine, his JC career is clearly referenced in his USC bio linked to the article already. This would improve the articles and keep valid categories intact. Thanks! Rikster2 (talk) 19:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Nicki Minaj

It probably was a little awkward but just wanted to mention that the actual day and month is not referenced/verified in reliable sources, only the year. I really like your idea of a Note, but did adjust the coding a little bit. Hope that's ok, Shearonink (talk) 12:55, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Jabari Greer

We seem to have a conflict in the sources here. You've correctly pointed out that NFL.com says his birthplace is Jackson, Tennessee, where he went to high school. But his Facebook page and his Saints team bio say he was born in Milwaukee, and here's a story from a Milwaukee TV station reporting on his grandmother's excitement after the Saints won the Super Bowl--the story says, "Greer was born in Milwaukee and moved to Texas when he was about seven years old. Many of his family still live here . . . " On his personal website he calls Jackson his "hometown" but I don't see anything there that specifically mentions his birthplace. Any thoughts about how best to deal with this? --Arxiloxos (talk) 01:33, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lil Twist

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lil Twist, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. noq (talk) 18:44, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Your edit to Kevin Frandsen

You recently removed an easily verifiable but un-sourced fact from Kevin Frandsen. I have reversed your edit and added a citation for the fact. While WP:BLP says any un-cited info can be removed, such an easily verifiable fact is much better cited than removed. Please consider doing this in the future. Toddst1 (talk) 15:40, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

And this edit makes absolutely no sense at all. Toddst1 (talk) 15:41, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Opinion

Please, could you share your opinion at Talk:Jessica_Valenti#Althouse criticisms or Misplaced Pages:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Blog gossip?? Thanks, --damiens.rf 22:52, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. The subject is back to discussion at WP:BLPN#Blog_gossip_-_BLP_Subject_ask_for_removalas the subject himself has objected the displaying controversial photo to illustrate the text about the controversy. The text you added was removed. I wonder if we shouldn't remove all mention to the so called controversy altogether? Isn't this all just the usual blog gossip from a blogger frustated for not being invited to dinner with Mr. Clinton? (Consider joining the thread). --damiens.rf 14:53, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Semiprotection padlock

Er, was there a point to this change? I always think the {{pp-protected|small=yes}} template is kind of neat, because it knows whether it's supposed to show the semi (silver) or the full (gold) padlock. Clever little thing. Bishonen | talk 21:05, 31 July 2011 (UTC).

Because the article is about a living person, that template categorizes it under category:Misplaced Pages temporarily semi-protected biographies of living people. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 21:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Are you sure? I don't see that category there. Never mind, perhaps we're speaking at cross purposes. Not important. Bishonen | talk 22:46, 31 July 2011 (UTC).
It's a hidden category. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 22:48, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Rick Perry protection

Thanks for removing the template, but a bot would have come along today I think. It was semi-protected for two weeks and that expired a few hours ago. Dougweller (talk) 08:08, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Edit summaries would help tremendously. I'm sure you meant well and are quite busy though. Veriss (talk) 08:17, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Edit summaries? I almost always leave them. Perhaps you mean the editor who protected it? That gets done automatically, it isn't exactly an edit - see which is the edit summary about protection. Dougweller (talk) 09:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Can you tell me why you removed a lot of players that played in the Greek Basket League from the category of Greek Basket League players?

I am just curious, as I noticed that you removed a lot of players that played in the league, from the list of players that did play in the league.Bluesangrel (talk) 23:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Then why would players be listed as having played in a Spanish team or an Israeli team and also as in the Spanish League and Israeli League? Then all of those would also be redundant.Bluesangrel (talk) 00:54, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages Help Survey

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Misplaced Pages's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Jon Barry

I don't think this is Jon Barry. It kind of looks like Chuck Swirsky, although I'm not 100% sure of that, either. The image is too fuzzy, and the subject is looking down. Zagalejo^^^ 21:27, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Look up the original photo from which my photo of Barry was derived. Swirsky is sitting next to ESPN's Mike Tirico. There's also a TV camera in front of both men. Why would a local radio announcer get on camera to be interviewed nationally? Andrewlp1991 (talk) 03:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure, but I really don't think it's Barry; the shape of his head looks different. Let me take another look. Zagalejo^^^ 02:00, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, I dunno. Again, I'm not saying it is Swirsky, either. I just can't tell. It's not a great image in general. (The person who tagged the image on Commons says that the person on the right is Michael Wilbon, but that's clearly wrong.) Zagalejo^^^ 02:07, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
D'oh! I didn't realize I mistagged Tirico. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 02:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Just throwing out an idea, but it might be some sort of Bulls TV interview. See some examples here. Swirsky does interview people who have nothing to do with the Bulls, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Zagalejo^^^ 02:31, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of artists reffered to as emo

The article List of artists reffered to as emo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Page title is misspelled and page already exists named List of artists referred to as emo, so this page cannot be moved.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Lil Twist

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lil Twist requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. STATic message me! 22:04, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Removing Speedy at Lil Twist

Hi Andrewlp1991, you recently removed a deletion tag from Lil Twist. Because Misplaced Pages policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Instead, please use the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. Remember to be patient, there is no harm in waiting for another experienced user to review the deletion and judge what the right course of action is. As you are involved, and therefore potentially biased, you should refrain from doing this yourself. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 23:43, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

List of Super Bowl champions

I saw you made an edit at List of Super Bowl champions, so I wanted to ask if you could revert this inappropriate edit in the lead made by ChicoSNKR. That paragraph is only about teams who played each other multiple times in the Super Bowl. In Baltimore Ravens, Chico also changed a wikilink for Baltimore's division from AFC North to NFC North (which was reverted), so I'm not sure if he's purposely making disruptive edits or if he just isn't knowledgeable about editing or the subject. Brigham Young/BYU

Hi - saw where you changed Jimmer Fredette's college name display in his infobox from "Brigham Young" to "BYU" - you make good points, but we need to get an editor consensus on the matter so we can just change all the articles it would affect. I will start a discussion at WP:College Basketball and will invite you to make your points there. To be clear - I don't have a problem at all at movong to BYU, TCU, etc, - and in fact will help convert them all - but these kinds of decisions should be made with input from relevant projects (College basketball, college football, etc). Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 20:39, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

NFL infobox edits

For your recent edits, the birthplace should be a single link to the ] and not ], ] per WP:SPECIFICLINK. Perhaps you should discuss the HS format at WT:NFL.—Bagumba (talk) 08:39, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Quin Snyder

Arbor to SJ - You continue to post an insulting photo of my client on the wikipedia which is difficult to understand unless you are from Kansas or Missouri. In that case it makes more sense, but is still inappropriate. You note that you are committed to cleaning up wikipedia sites and adding sources. As such, I find it curious that when you posted and then re-posted the insulting photo of Coach Snyder, you twice neglected to remove clearly false and defamatory text that had been inserted on his page in the last month. Please refrain from using wikipedia as a platform to in any way denigrate the reputation of other people. As you seem to be committed to having a photo of Coach Snyder posted on his wikipedia page, I will work to secure copyright permissions for a decent photo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Strs2010 (talkcontribs) 10:50, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Move of NYC soda ban

Hi there,

I saw that you changed the name of the NY soda ban article to "New York City soft drink size limit". I agree that your title is more accurate, although one of Misplaced Pages's policies (WP:COMMONNAME) states that articles should be named after the most common name of the subject, even if a more accurate or scientific title exists. In this case, "NY soda ban" or "New York soda ban" is overwhelmingly more popular than any other choice. I determined this through a Google Trends matchup of several competing terms, as well as a thorough search of news articles, to see what term the major news sources use to describe this subject. Therefore, I would appreciate if you agreed to revert the name to the previous title.

Thank you.--ɱ (talk) 16:40, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

It's been over a week since I left this message, and according to your contributions page, you've been actively editing every day since I posted this. So if you are going to ignore me, then I will revert the article back to the title which I feel more appropriate.
Thank you for your consideration. --ɱ (talk) 20:54, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Nine days ago I posted a response to your message on Talk:New York City soft drink size limit. I would appreciate a reply, because I want to either be sure that the current name is the best name, or I want my prefered name to be used without delay.--ɱ (talk) 23:45, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Just let the picture go. It's not worth making people angry. You don't want someone to end up complaining to the press. Zagalejo^^^ 00:43, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

The Kermit Gosnell mugshot

First, you forgot to sign your "Delete" posting in the discussion on the Gosnell mugshot's 12 April 2013 PUF page.

Second, beneath your unsigned (at this writing) posting there, you will find a very upset response to it from me... but not because you posted it there; such is, after all, your right. Rather, I'm upset because, based on what you wrote there, you went ahead and unilaterally removed the mugshot from the Misplaced Pages article, despite that you could see (assuming you read any of the rest of the discussion) that I am right in the middle of timely formalizing Misplaced Pages's unlimited use of the image, as my words both before and after your posting made so painfully clear that I find it difficult to believe you meant anything short of malice by doing it. Maybe you didn't; and if it turns out that I'm wrong in assuming it, then I'll humbly apologize everywhere where it's appropriate.

In the meantime, please read -- long though it unfortunately now necessarily is -- my response there; and then let's please not fight about this. You seem like a reasonable person... er... you know... when you're not sweeping through Misplaced Pages like a tornado, unilaterally prematurely removing things, that is.

I am, too. Let's not, then, turn this into a big mess, shall we? I'm working on formally resolving the issue, once and for all, as fast as I can. Your removing the mugshot from the Gosnell aticle so distracted me from working on it, and then caused me to fully document my reversal of it (so that if you reverse me again, and I have to file a formal complaint with Misplaced Pages, it will all be there) that -- because it's now late on Friday and I cannot now have any further discussions with the Philadelphia District Attorney's office about it, as I was right in the middle of doing -- it has basically cost me a day; and so it has now delayed my finally getting it resolved by at least two days more than that.

Please, then, just sit back and let me deal with this. In the end, everyone will get what they want.

Please.

Mbenga

I don't see any reason why Mbenga couldn't have been drafted in 2003. He would have been 22 that year. Zagalejo^^^ 01:02, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Club histories on basketball infoboxes - formatting note

Hello - first off, thanks for adding/formatting these - it is a huge help to the basketball projects. I have been tweaking some of your work and just wanted to drop you a line to see if you could apply an existing convention in mind when making these edits. Each club/team should have its own entry - even if in the same season. In some cases the same entry (e.g. years3/team3) had two teams associated with it separated by a < br/ >. The current format does not need his and entries appear crowded when this format is applied. Thanks! Rikster2 (talk) 22:42, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Toby Gerhart's full name

Hey, ATSJ. What's your source for Toby Gerhart's full name? The name is so odd that it really deserves a sourced footnote. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:12, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

June 2013

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Kevin Ollie may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Ramirez Mug Shot

It clearly falls under {{PD-CAGov}}. I'll move it to the commons, but in the meantime there is no restriction on an FUR image like this. Check any FA video game article. Cheers :) Doc talk 04:02, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Temple namespace

Hey Arbor to SJ

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Getty Images

If those recent pics (Johnson-Odom, Morris, etc) come from Getty Images, then they're probably not available under a compatible license. Getty Images is very protective of its property. Zagalejo^^^ 23:23, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

Here is the Dahntay Jones pic on the Getty website. It says, "USER IS NOT PERMITTED TO DOWNLOAD OR USE IMAGE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL." Zagalejo^^^ 23:31, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
Ehhh, I don't feel comfortable with this. If Getty Images is involved, we should err on the side of caution. Why were those deletion discussions closed so quickly? The other discussion at the Village Pump was still hopping. I strongly recommend that you contact Bollinger to make sure he's OK with all this. See Zagalejo^^^ 01:28, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
FYI, the last few discussions in the series were closed as deletions. Zagalejo^^^ 18:11, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Player categories

For NFL players, the player doesn't have to play in a game to have the teams category. As long as the player is on the roster he gets the category.--Yankees10 18:36, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Opting in to VisualEditor

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit ") is currently available on the English Misplaced Pages only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Misplaced Pages:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:26, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Neutral notice

This is a neutral notice that an RfC has been opened at an article which you have edited within the past year. It is at Talk:Clint Eastwood#8 children by 6 women. --Tenebrae (talk) 14:29, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

This is Hammerb officially notifying Arbor to SJ that I have requested that your account be blocked from editing Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Per Misplaced Pages guidlines

It's nothing personal you just don't know how to communicate. Sorry man.

I mean absolutely no disrespect and please don't take this the wrong way but I would really appreciate it if you would do 2 things for me. It doesn't have to be very strong or even usefull. Would you like me to cite a source? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-x-100-ft-White-Braided-Nylon-and-Polypropylene-Rope-14066/202048175 there you go. Now please tied one end of this rope to a high location and allow the other end of the rope to dangle. Now for the final step. Piss up the rope.

Your recent editing history at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Disambiguation link notification for November 14

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drafting (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
