I'll bet someone changed it to "pitch corrected" () to protect the trademark of the "Auto-Tune" software, similar to how Google used to chastise people for using "Google" as a verb. Dodson IS the story, as the sources show. There is no doubt he is internationally notable. Rapidosity (talk) 19:29, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please acquaint yourself with the outcome of Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Antoine Dodson, which was to delete the article. Favonian (talk) 19:33, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes but the policy is you're not allowed to speedy delete the article unless it's a copy of the deleted article. This is a newly written article, so to be deleted it requires a vote. If it where otherwise, no matter how famous the person got he could never have an article. It would be irrational to have a policy that an article can never exist just because it was deleted in the past. What's more is the administrator deleted the article improperly last time. The consensus was to keep. He abused his power. Rapidosity (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

- Then personally present the argumentation for keeping the article at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Antoine Dodson (2nd nomination), where this is being discussed. Here is not the right spot; this page is for discussing improvements to the article. --Lambiam 08:13, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

I think this should definitely stay up. I want to know if they catch the jerk that tried to hurt her. And people aren't making fun of him, they're saluting him. This guy is a hero, he rescued his sister from that jerk that tried to hurt her. No harm in paying homage to someone who's commited to the protection and welfare of his family. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Belflaurn (talk • contribs) 21:41, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- See above: this talk page is for discussing improvements to the article; it is not the place to discuss the deletion proposal or the topic. If you can cite reliable sources for the claim that people are not making fun of him but saluting him, add them to the article. Misplaced Pages is not for paying homage. --Lambiam 06:23, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

What about the perp?
Did the police ever find the bed intruder? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.109.186 (talk) 12:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Also wanting to know if this case was resolved. At least there was a page on this topic as I was slightly interested in who this person was and what this song was all about. Though the fact that this page has a discography just makes me laugh. Savre (talk) 03:15, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
According to NPR, the bed intruder has not been caught. Should this be part of the article? http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2010/08/13/129178815/bed-intruder-song-climbs-the-charts 69.181.240.52 (talk) 21:57, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. I think there should be something about the status of the case and why, if possible. Occasionally, the perp will pop up in conversation and everyone wonders/hopes that this awful experience comes to a successful conclusion. Well, it has in a way, but I know everyone would like to see justice brought to the criminal that started this whole thing.71.105.55.97 (talk) 18:28, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- I looked into this about two months ago and found nothing. No arrest, no evidence that a serious investigation or manhunt had ever occurred, nothing. Maybe there's something new out there—in which case you're welcome to find that information and incorporate it into the article—but I doubt it. —Bill Price (nyb) 00:18, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
"punk rock" vs "pop punk", etc
Greetings. I've added the following in-line warning text to the article regarding the controversy over the musical genre of the Hayley Williams et al. cover:
- WARNING: Please do not change this to say "pop punk" or any other genre. The cited source specifically calls it a "punk rock cover", and on Misplaced Pages, we follow what cited sources say, not what editors think to be true. Refer to the official policies on verifiability (WP:VERIFY) and original research (WP:OR).
I added this warning because the listed genre has been changed a couple of times in the past. If any editors dissent with this decision or with my reading of official policies, please state your case here. Thank you. —Bill Price (nyb) 15:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Ummm... notice how the cited source says "(Pop Punk Cover)" directly in the description. -_- Occamsrazorwit (talk) 19:32, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- This is the source cited in the article. It does not say "Pop Punk" at any point. If you have another source that uses that phrase, feel free to cite it in the article. —Bill Price (nyb) 21:03, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Alleged
The point of using the word "alleged" is to avoid branding someone of a crime before the question of guilt has been settled. In this case there is no accused person to protect and using "alleged" would only serve to cast doubt on Dodson's account.·Maunus·ƛ· 00:51, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Pitch Corrected in not correct
The lede says:
- Kevin Antoine Dodson (born June 27, 1986) is a former resident of the Lincoln Park housing project in Huntsville, Alabama, whose interview on local television became an Internet sensation and resulted in a pitch corrected song with The Gregory Brothers that "has sold thousands of copies on iTunes and appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 list". The interview that propelled Dodson into fame was prompted by the report of a house intrusion and attempted rape of Dodson's sister.
But it was not actually corrected as there was no original melody to correct the pitch to. I can understand the desire to avoid using the commercial term "AutoTune". I propose instead using the phrase "artificially pitch-shifted". K8 fan (talk) 04:15, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that "pitch corrected" oddly suggests that Dodson was unintentionally singing off-key in the original news conference. I think the words "pitch corrected" could be deleted entirely, leaving just "...resulted in a song with..." Patricia Meadows (talk) 00:15, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Trademark protection?
I'll bet someone changed it to "pitch corrected" (diff) to protect the trademark of the "Auto-Tune" software, similar to how Google used to chastise people for using "Google" as a verb. Regardless, I agree that the phrase "pitch correction" is downright misleading, so I'll change it back to auto-tuned. —Bill Price (nyb) 02:32, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Musician?
Why is he categorized as a musician? He is not a musician. 69.117.64.161 (talk) 22:39, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- This makes no sense as to how he is categorized as a musician, and how the page is organized as a musician's page. Unless he collaborated with The Gregory Brothers on "The Bed Intruder Song" then he'd be a musician, but because the song was made without his knowing, and he was not on any other tracks by anyone or himself (which I highly doubt he's a musician). This should be moved from a musician page to a "regular person" page, for the various reasons I stated. TomUSA 13:55, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Arrested.
According to TMZ, he was arrested for possession of marijuana. DanielDPeterson (talk) 18:21, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
