Asiana Airlines Flight 214 was a transpacific passenger flight operated by Asiana Airlines from Incheon International Airport near Seoul, South Korea to San Francisco International Airport, near San Francisco, California in the United States. On July 6, 2013, the Boeing 777-200ER serving the flight crash landed upon approach at San Francisco International Airport. The official cause and details on injuries and possible fatalities are currently unconfirmed.

Crash

On July 6, 2013, at 11:26 AM local time (18:26 UTC), the Boeing 777-200ER, registration number HL7742, crashed upon landing on runway 28L at San Francisco International Airport. The tail section became separated from the aircraft. Eyewitnesses describe a second large explosion minutes after the impact, with a large, dark plume of smoke rising from the fuselage. Witnesses describe a large brief fireball upon the aircraft landing. Evacuation slides were deployed on one side of the plane, and were used to evacuate the passengers. The National Transportation Safety Board has begun an investigation.

Aftermath

San Francisco EMS reported transporting two people to the hospital, only one with serious injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration have not given any official confirmation about injuries or fatalities.
