Libraries form other countries
Do you have support to get digital copies form libraries of other countries? 1. I am interested on a document that is available at the Burgos University Library. 2. 3. Do you have editors in Spain that can access this documents for digital copy? 4. Can your editors make a digital copy and make it available for reference in wikicommons? 6. Do you have a wikipedia group of editors to chare and exchange references? 7. I have contacted the State library and have asked about The federal Library. I will contact the Duplicate center of the LIbrary of congress about this? 8. Do you have any editors that can contact them for reference materials for wikipedia? 204.126.64.99 (talk)

Bot
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place for this question.
I am currently in the process of writing code for a bot which will run on Wikidata. I am using the PyWikipediaBot framework. How could I generate a list of all pages in a certain category? By "list", I mean within the program, not on a Misplaced Pages page. Thank you. FrigidNinja 01:26, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

- Thank you for your interest in contributing to wikipedia. It is clear you are passionate about the article you are contributing to. For that reason there are several issues which currently make it inappropraite for a wikipedia article. The article itself will likely be deleted, so you might want to save a copy for yourself before it is deleted. In the mean time, please check out WP:YFA for assistance... External Linking
Hello,
We are CrazyMikesapps.com an app review and app video review website. We conduct application reviews for how an iOS or Android OS application works and then provide this to our community. We have many developers who we have chronicled reviews for both on our website as blog posts and on YouTube as videos. Are we able to link to these articles and videos legitimately to provide as a reference for the developer or the applications we have reviewed?
Our company name is CrazyMikesapps.com LLC.
The reason I ask is I submitted 2 links for the company page: SYBO Games as did AppAdvice, another app review website.
I received a message indicating I may be violating Misplaced Pages rules and that is not my intent, I believe I am legitimately providing valuable reference quality, original reference content to this company's profile page.
Please let me know if I am within Misplaced Pages's TOS.
thank you

Collapsing barnstars
On my user page I try to collapse my barnstars using {{collapse top}} and {{collapse bottom}} but most of the stars are still outside. What mistake did I make? Lova Falk talk 11:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- The problem with doing them like that is that those template make a wiki-table of their own, and it gets confused when it sees the |} at the bottom of each of the barnstar tables (they don't nest well). There are two options I can see. Either go through and modify the barnstars so that they use templates for wiki code ({{(!}}, {{!-}}, {{!}}, and {{!)}}) or you could try moving all of the barnstars to their own sub-page, and then transcluding the page on your main page inside of the collapse templates. Technical 13 (talk) 11:15, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- I've done a quick change to deal with one place where you had unmatched formatting characters. You had |} where there hadn't been a corresponding {| to start the table. It now collapses OK, but you may want to tidy up how you want to format the barnstars. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:31, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Is it possible to have and in the same article?
I've eventually figured out how to create the footnotes, shortened footnotes and so on... but lets say you wanted to have one saying and further down the article an is this possible or will it just go to or ?
Can you only have one type of efn way of doing it on the same article?--Teutonic Man (talk) 13:22, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- You can have both. One would be <ref group=Note 1> text </ref> and then the other would be <ref group=a> text </ref>. Where you want the note to appear you would have {{reflist|group=Note 1}} and {{reflist|group=a}}. Help:Cite link labels and Help:Footnotes have more information. Sarahj2107 (talk) 13:51, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Having read Help:Cite link labels and tried it out, are you sure that you've got that right, Sarah?
- Isn't it:
- "One would be <ref group=Note> text </ref> and then the other would be <ref group=lower-alpha> text </ref>. Where you want the note to appear you would have {{reflist|group=Note}} and {{reflist|group=lower-alpha}}."
- - David Biddulph (talk) 14:52, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
So in the 'notes' section of an article why would you put references when it's just notes?
I don't get why you would use reference markers for just notes? Surely the reference markers will take it down to references not notes?Teutonic Man (talk) 14:54, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you want them to appear in the "Notes" section, that's where you put the {{reflist|group=...}} for that group. - David Biddulph (talk) 15:01, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you want to see how it works, look at User:David Biddulph/Sandbox4. - David Biddulph (talk) 15:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Copyright material on a user page
Dear editors:
I have nominated a number of articles for speedy deletion because of copyright problems. Here's one that's on a user page. User:Bucket54321 (from http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jamie-Buckingham-Ministries/293934444001865?sk=info) does it have to go too? —Anne Delong (talk) 15:21, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Why has the "Arbortext" article been deleted?
Hi,
I did a search for "Arbortext" today and it seems the article has been deleted, although there are 28 references to it elsewhere.
I managed to find it under the following title "User:Abelniak/arbortext" what I can't work out is how to get the article back.
Please advise.
Cheers

- The article Arbortext was deleted on February 1, 2012, per a deletion discussion here. Additionally, creation of the page has been disabled. The happened because it was determined that the page was promotional in tone and the subject did not meet the notability standard. If you wish to create such an article again, I recommend articles for creation. However, you must ensure that you establish the notability of the subject and provide reliable sources in the article. Additionally, the article must be written from a neutral point of view. If you are affiliated in any way with the subject, you should also read our guidelines on conflict of interest. Please be advised as well that AfC has a severe backlog, and it may be weeks or even months before your article is reviewed. Thank you, and good luck. FrigidNinja 15:47, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Top of what?
Out of interest, why does the bolded word top appear on so many of my edit summaries?:
- 09:06, 11 April 2013 (diff | hist) . . (+283) . . Talk:Mitsubishi i-MiEV (→Sales/production figures: - cosmetic touches)
- 09:01, 11 April 2013 (diff | hist) . . (+371) . . User talk:Mariordo (Discussion on Mitsubishi i-Miev) (top)
Those are a few examples. Thanks ツ Jenova20 16:18, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- It is not in edit summaries, but is an interface message stored at MediaWiki:Uctop. It means that the particular revision is the current revision for that page. But I wonder why you say it is top. It used to be (top), but it was changed to (current) in February this year. --Ushau97 (talk) 16:32, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you have switched your language preference from "English" to "British English", the text at MediaWiki:Uctop is ignored, and you see the software's built-in default "(top)". -- John of Reading (talk) 16:35, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- ...I've broke it with English English? Oh well, at least I know why I have about 15 instances of "top" on my contributions list. Thanks guys ツ Jenova20 16:45, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Referencing
I am trying to complete a wiki article for submission. The article is about a television show and although I am trying to reference everything I put in, there are a few things I am unsure of like, the list of cast members of the show, voice artists, puppeteers etc and the advisory board and partners. This information I obtained by contacting the production company directly and they assured me this was the correct information. Will this be a problem when trying to submit the page? Please help. - Yes it's a problem because it's not verifiable. Now, if those interviews were published in a reliable source, they would be OK to use as references.--ukexpat (talk) 18:46, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Largest towns in Scotland
Upon reading the article regarding Scotland it was noted that in the section of 'Largest towns in Scotland" that Dumfries with a population of 40,000 was not listed; nor was Dumfries and Galloway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.23.96.56 (talk) 19:44, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you find something in an article that can be improved, you are encouraged to be bold and fix it. Or else to bring it up on the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 22:39, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- The "Largest cities or towns of Scotland" table in Scotland#Demography has a reference to where Dumfries is listed with a population of 31,630. This is not enough to enter the table. Dumfries and Galloway is a region of 6,426 km and not a town. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:33, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Signatures
I'm fairly new to Misplaced Pages and its rules. I've read somewhere that it is a good to get in the practice of leaving your signature. Therefore, I've been doing that on some of my edits until I noticed someone removed my signature saying I'm not suppose to. I proceeded to investigate finding out that I "must not" sign my edits which brings me here. Are signatures encouraged or frowned upon? In addition, I'm suppose to sign this post leaving me more confused. Mr.H 20:01, 11 April 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr Happy2468 (talk • contribs)
- You should sign on talk pages, & on discussion pages like this, but you must not sign on articles themselves. See WP:Signatures. - David Biddulph (talk) 20:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- ... and note that what you put on your question was not a valid signature because it did not include a link to either your user page or your user talk page (again see WP:Signatures); that is why the bot came and signed for you. - David Biddulph (talk) 20:09, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- And you can go back through your edits to see where you need to remove your signature from the article pages by going to Special:Contributions/Mr_Happy2468 , Note, the WP:Signatures page isn't totally complete on what to sign. I'd say all of the talk page namespaces as well as the namespaces that start with Misplaced Pages (like this help desk), but not any of the other ones without talk in the namespace name (that's what is to the left of the colon if anything).Naraht (talk) 20:16, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Not about using wikipedia, but about the English Misplaced Pages itself. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:12, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- WP:VPM maybe?--ukexpat (talk) 20:16, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

- OK, you asked for it.... What is the oldest source cited in any article on en.WP?
- It would help to forcefully drive the point home when explaining to someone "sources do not need to be online" if one can say something like "Article X cites the inscription on this 4500 year old Fooian statue." Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:32, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- ...which the editor found with a Google search -- John of Reading (talk) 21:25, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Or by personally visiting the museum... Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:43, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- ...which the editor found with a Google search -- John of Reading (talk) 21:25, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- I tried looking at Ancient literature to see if any of the oldest texts it lists cite the original text, but gave up. Finding first the oldest writings ever and then seeing that they cite themselves is the only way I can think of that you could ever claim "oldest", definitively, but you can make the point with very old cites without the need for a claim of oldest. Our article on Plato, for example (428/427 BCE – 348/347 BCE), cites Plato.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:31, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed finding the oldest cited source is pretty much a "mission impossible".
- The Plato cite won't really make the point because it is available online and it is actually a modern English translation that is being cited, not the original scroll written by Plato himself.
- A citation such as <ref>"Ancient Sumerian clay tablet circa 3000BCE; Museum of Really Old Stuff, Anycity; Catalog number 3456HT756/4-A"</ref> (No URL included) would be ideal as verification requires a visit to the museum and a knowlege of the Sumerian language, but is still within the rules of WP:V because people who can read Sumerian do exist and travelling to a museum is possible.
- Well actually the whole idea is a bit silly and probably falls foul of WP:POINT anyway. Thanks for trying. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:33, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone has suggested anything that will disrupt wikipedia, so I'm not sure WP:POINT applies. I think of this as similar (but less easily unanswerable) to "What was the 100,000th" edit.

Bob Grogan Article
Hello,
I recently created an article on Bob Grogan, DuPage County Auditor who will be running for Illinois Treasurer (the Misplaced Pages page is still pending review/approval). My question is that I created the whole page with probably 5-6 paragraphs and when I submitted it for review, it only showed one paragraph, which is how it ended up being submitted unfortuantely. I'm not really sure why that happened since it was totally fine up until I hit submit. I "previewed" my work several times throughout the process and it was showing up fine, but when I submitted the page, it only showed the first paragraph. Can someone help me with why that happened? I just don't want that to affect whether or not the article will be approved or deleted.
Thanks,
Tim — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twhalen (talk • contribs) 21:51, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Your contributions show nothing about edits to such an article, only this question and edits to Colin S. Smith back in 2010. Did you make these edits while logged out or on another account? FrigidNinja 22:01, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- I found the page at Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Bob Grogan. A ref tag was not closed correctly. I have fixed it. It isn't caused by submitting so you must have accidentally removed the two characters around that time. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:14, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- This confuses me. It seems that, as their first and only edit, the logged out Twhalen created a complete AfC page, with templates correctly placed. Prior to this, their only edits had been logged in, back in 2010, and seemed to be copyedits. FrigidNinja 01:34, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Highlighting articles for mnemonically-enhanced review.
Dear Misplaced Pages:
If you have installed the ability for researchers or students to use their mouses (or mice :) to "highlight articles" as they are being read for better review and memory retention at the end - as one does with a print book with a yellow highlighting marker - please make clear how this important thing can be done.
If not, please accept this as a valuable suggestion that such a thing should (and I think could easily) be done.
Sincerely,
D.S.S. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.87.95.79 (talk) 22:41, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

New Template
I created a new warning template, for threats of violence: Template:Uw-violence Should I have done this, and if it is a good template, how should I integrate it into the warning system? Revolution1221 (talk · email · contributions) 01:14, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think the template is a good idea in principle, but wrong the way it was created. "Reported to the authorities" is a legal threat, which is not permitted on Misplaced Pages. FrigidNinja 01:24, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- So you are saying that we shouldn't report death threats to the authorities? Revolution1221 (talk · email · contributions) 01:28, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I obviously think that death threats should be reported to the authorities, but I'm not sure if putting this in a template is a good idea. FrigidNinja 01:58, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Misplaced Pages:Threats of violence is not an accepted policy, so reporting such threats to the authorities is not something we're obliged to do, strictly speaking. We most likely wouldn't stand around warning somebody if they make a serious threat anyway, they'd blocked straight away. There's the problem of the possible legal threat as well, like FrigidNinja says (in which case the editor who posted the template may be blocked if it's used in error). Creating a redirect
I recently created a disambiguation page here: Homeland Party (disambiguation) However, searching for "Homeland Party" leads to this page: Homeland Party
It does not go to the disambiguation page I created. How do I redirect to the disambiguation page? Thanks in advance. David O. Johnson (talk) 03:32, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- In your question I have taken the liberty of changing the internet URLs to wikilinks.
- I have moved the old Homeland Party to Homeland Party (Turkey), and edited the resulting redirect to point Homeland Party at Homeland Party (disambiguation). - David Biddulph (talk) 04:33, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Using "" once for two words?
Using an old 19th-century quote that should've been "veil of snow": is this acceptable: "vail of snew " as opposed to "vail of snew "? This three-word phrase is buried in a larger quote. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 08:08, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- MOS:QUOTE doesn't answer this question. I would use a single 'sic', unless it was important in the context that both words were spelt unconventionally. --ColinFine (talk) 08:53, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Refer to , English stack exchange answer, and English Composition 1. Use it after every word or copy edit. I would simply do it as "vail of snew" (veil of snow), which may be wrong but makes the most sense to me if including the original wording was important to understanding the point. Technical 13 (talk) 11:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I would use a single after "snew" because the two words are so close together. If you were to correct the spelling, MOS:QUOTE says "...trivial spelling and typographic errors should simply be corrected without comment...". Insertion of a correction in parentheses afterwards is not documented, and could be taken to be part of the original (as with anything not in square brackets should be). —— 12:25, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Since the spellings in the original are not, apparently, typographical errors, I think it would be presumptuous and misleading to silently correct them. Keraunoscopia could combine ColinFine's and Technical 13's suggestions and use "vail of snew " if the aim is both to signal the obsolete spellings and to clarify the meaning. Can I add a BLPprod after a PROD has been removed?
Someone has proposed an article for deletion and the author has contested the PROD. Can I add a BLPprod or does it have to go to AFD? Hack (talk) 09:35, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- If the article is about a biography of living person and if it is unreferenced then you could add
{{prod blp/dated}}
. See WP:STICKY. But WP:DEPROD states that If anyone, including the "article creator", removes a {{proposed deletion}} tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith. This excludes removals that are clearly not an objection to deletion, such as page blanking or obvious vandalism, and tags removed by banned users may be restored. If you still believe that the article needs to be deleted, or that the article should be deleted but with discussion, list it on Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion --Ushau97 (talk) 09:44, 12 April 2013 (UTC)- I suppose the point of the question was to ask if a BLPprod was a type of prod for the purposes of WP:DEPROD.Hack (talk) 09:52, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, if the author had contested the proposed deletion, whether it is a BLP or another article, and if you still want the article to be deleted, then it would have to go to AfD. Sorry if I don't understand what you mean. --Ushau97 (talk) 09:56, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- That's what I was after. I can't seem to find this sort of situation documented in the various deletion policies/guidelines. Hack (talk) 10:00, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- The statement which I have provided from WP:DEPROD documents that. Third point to be exact. --Ushau97 (talk) 10:05, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- WP:DEPROD doesn't apply here. BLPPROD and PROD are two different processes, and removal of one tag does not negate future use of the other. In other words, if a PROD tag has been removed, you can still tag the article for BLPPROD, if applicable; similarly, if a BLPPROD has been removed after the addition of a source, a PROD tag can still be applied for other reasons. Yunshui 雲水 10:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I realise this sounds like nitpicking but the de-prod process says that a PROD can't be placed on a page that has previously been proposed for deletion. Hack (talk) 10:21, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- True. But you aren't proposing to place a PROD, you're proposing a BLPPROD, which is a separate, additional process. Really, this ought to be spelled out at on the relevant policy pages; I'm sorry that it isn't. Yunshui 雲水 10:25, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Maybe this will clear it up a little. WP:BLPPROD says "Unlike standard proposed deletion," which in itself to me says it is a different process. WP:BLPPROD goes on to say, "the BLP deletion template may be removed only after the biography contains a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article. If the biography remains unsourced after ten days, the biography may be deleted." Furthermore it is worthy to note that "Unsourced biographies of living people (BLP)" can only be used for articles "created after March 18, 2010." It seems to me that there may be an issue here with another editor, in which case I suggest familiarizing yourself with WP:BLPPROD#Objecting and I would also add a link to that section in the Edit Summary. Happy editing! Technical 13 (talk) 11:16, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Next, read WP:COI. As his spouse, you have a conflict of interest regarding your husband. Finally, if he is notable, you have reliable sources to back it up, and you can write from a neutral point of view, read WP:YFA to get started on writing. --FrigidNinja 11:18, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

How does a beginner suggest splitting a category?
I've edited or originated dozens of articles, but never worked much on categories. What's likely to be my effective procedure for suggesting that we (or I personally) split Category:Educational operating systems?
Do I simply go ahead? If not, can someone summarize for me what's relevant in the various proposal and guideline pages? Or just carry out the work instead of me?
My claim is that for two groups of articles there, the term "educational" applies in such different ways that the groups are not really related.
- Operating systems provided so that students may inspect and modify them (perhaps "Trainer operating systems"): Some articles, including Kaneton, Kastor, Kid Operating System, MINIX, and Tinex, describe operating systems that are intended as example software for programmers to learn the design and implementation of an operating system. (XINU isn't in the category yet. I would like to add it to this group.)
- Operating systems provided as tools for teaching and learning generally (perhaps "Software platforms for education"): The remaining articles describe operating systems, software distributions incorporating operating systems, or even (speaking of Sugar) a desktop environment not incorporating any operating system, that are intended as useful software to support the educational endeavors of educators and students of various subjects, with no particular relevance to the design and implementation of any operating system. --Hoziron (talk) 15:25, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- That category is not overpopulated enough to really need "splitting." I would suggest simply adding two sub-categories and placing each of the articles in the proper sub-category without removing them from the main category. Technical 13 (talk) 15:41, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think subcategorizing will be effective for me. Thanks. But the number of articles in the category doesn't concern me. What concerns me is that when we describe software such as Edubuntu as "educational" ("designed for use in classrooms"), we are using quite a different meaning of the word "educational" from the meaning that is appropriate to software such as Tinix ("It is for teaching rather than using" - I have added emphasis in both quotations). It's almost as if a category "Wood shops" would contain workshops in which carpentry is performed along with retail stores made of wood, or located in forests, or selling products for people who spend time in forests, or whatever. --Hoziron (talk) 21:45, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- The correct procedure to "split" a category is done by adding subcategories, then you move the articles to the relevant new subcategories - do not leave them in the original (parent) category, unless they cannot fit neatly into only one of the new subcategories. (Sorry Technical 13, you're mistaken) An article must never be in a parent category of any of its categories. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:11, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Roger, do you have a link to the appropriate WP guidelines that explain that all out. I'm not contesting your wisdom, just wish to read up and better understand it. Thank you. Technical 13 (talk) 17:28, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- It took a little digging but I found it :) WP:SUBCAT. My use of "never" was a bit overstated, however non-difusing subcategories are used only for specific situations not relevant in this instance. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:01, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Travis Flores wikipedia Page (Help Edit)
Hello,
I saw an article posted about a young man named Travis Flores that was a COI because of its creator. I noticed that someone else had made some changes to help the article yesterday, so I decided to help with the citations today. I wasn't sure if he met the notability requirements and I was debating whether or not I should even attempt to edit, until I read his story and some of the articles that I found. If you have any input, please feel free to help. Such an inspirational story of a young man.
thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madhatterarticles (talk • contribs) 16:04, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Travis Flores Biography
Thank you for sharing the bio about Travis Flores. I know someone with CF. Such an awful thing to live with.
It appears that multiple people have looked at it and made edits. The original posters should notice that in the talk section of the page, the article has been listed as "Start" & "Low Importance" on the wiki bio project. The article appears to have good sources, and is well written. I saw that someone mentioned the article is not orphaned anymore, but it still lists it as such, so someone should look at that again.
I will verify as much content as I can. Lastly, I saw that there was an issue with COI as well. I am not sure why, because the article does not seem biased and it has been edited by multiple people now. Does someone know how to answer that question?
Will work on verification of sources now.
Editsbyedits (talk) 18:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- IMHO it will never get above "low" importance, because in the whole scheme of things, this biographical article is, well, of low importance.--ukexpat (talk) 19:24, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'll take a good look at the article and it's history and see if I can't get rid of that COI. I have been avoiding it because I'm at work and don't have time to read in-depth the article and check all the sources... Technical 13 (talk) 19:35, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- : What ukexpat said is true and that is what I meant when I pointed out the "Low Importance", so if the original poster sees this hopefully they understand. Thanks for the clarification. Technical 13, I have no idea how to handle any COI issues t or I would look into it more myself. Editsbyedits (talk) 19:41, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- You could have removed the orphan tag when you saw that there was at least one incoming link; I have done so. - David Biddulph (talk) 19:42, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- WP:COI simply says that someone affiliated with the page somehow (related, employed by, personal friend of) has edited the article and "may" have inadvertently added some "insider" information that isn't from a referenced source or "may" have used {{Peacock}} words to make the subject of the article "seem" more or less important than it is. If the article is clean of that stuff, it is safe to remove the tag and note on the talkpage who had the COI and that it has been checked out and is now clean. Redirection for Up (2009 film)
Hi guys ! I just searched for "Up (movie)" and it defaults to Up! (1976_film), "a 1976 soft core sex comedy". I think it should default to Up (2009 film) instead. It's not cool for kids to land on that porn film page, and the 2009 movie is probably much bigger anyway, no ? Letting more experienced people take care of this ! ;) Thanks ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.251.40.166 (talk) 20:27, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think you are confused. Up (movie) already redirects to Up (2009 film). You will get redirected to Up! (1976_film) if you try to go to Up! (movie)(including the exclamation mark). Up#Entertainment shows the 2 films above, plus one other, so there is perhaps scope for suggesting that Up (movie) should redirect to Up#Entertainment. - David Biddulph (talk) 20:38, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oh. Well, I really typed "Up (movie)" in the search box, hit Enter and was redirected to Up! (1976_film). When you type it fast enough, oddly, the version with the exclamation point shows up first in the drop-down... I see now that when I wait a few seconds, "Up movie" and "Up (movie)" show up too.
- No, scratch that. Interesting. When you don't type the parenthesis, "Up! (Movie)" is listed first. So that's when I hit Enter, probably. As soon as you type the parenthesis, the order changes. When you remove it, it changes back. Really odd. Well, if there's a way to fix that, it would probably be better... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.251.40.166 (talk) 21:08, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm getting something wierder. When I type "up (mo", "Up (Morrissey–Mullen album)" is first, without the ! is next and with the ! is third, When I add the v, the album is removed, and *with* the exclaimation point jumps to the first choice. With the exclamation point stays as first through the v, i, and e, however when the closing parentheses is added, as mentioned above, with the exclamation point drops to second again. So a little wierd, the issue seems to be oddities in how the code that does the drop down sorts different pages after removing some punctuation.
- All that aside, though, Misplaced Pages is not censored. I read that to mean the sexual nature of the other movie should not be a factor in deciding whether it should be the default target of an ambiguous name. It's supposed to be about common usage and knowledge of one of the targets versus the others. In this case, I doubt either one is commonly known (somewhere, there's a page hit counter that could provide some evidence if needed), and the default should be the dab page. —— 00:04, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Agreeing with what you said on the censorship issue but a slight quibble with your side note. Up (2009 film) is a Pixar movie. It was immense. It was nominated for five academy awards including best picture and won two. It was the sixth highest-grossing film of 2009 on the earth. It's probably about 2,337 x, give or take a megajoule, as commonly known as the Russ Meyer T&A flick.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:04, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think that one aspect to this is a desire that although the searches generally ignore punctuation in doing searches, that if multiple hits occur when punctuation is dropped, the one that exactly matches what is typed should be listed first. That way "Up (Movie)" would have always been preferred to "Up! (Movie)" (or at least once you got to character 3).Naraht (talk) 11:30, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

- Wow! This is so confusing... Up, Up!, Up (movie), Up! (movie) should all redirect to Up which should then link to Up! (1976 film) and Up (2009 film) respectively. I would think this would clear up all the issues. Technical 13 (talk) 12:17, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
using scanned material as a reference for an article
Following a dispute over the existence of a reference in an article, an editor requests that I will scan the reference (which he describes as non-existent). I wonder where to upload the scanned material (which is not important as a photo in the article...) and how to reference it in the article once it is uploaded. thanksרסטיניאק (talk) 22:46, 12 April 2013 (UTC)רסטיניאק
- From what I can make out looking at the dispute, this is a copyrighted newspaper article, and just as posting a scan of it here would infringe on the newspaper's copyright, so too would posting the scan on some other site. Therefore you should not post it anywhere, and whether you do or don't, because it would be a copyvio, it should not be linked as a source. The fact that you have seen the original allows you to use the original for verification without any link. See WP:SOURCEACCESS, Misplaced Pages:Offline sources and Misplaced Pages:Reliable sources/Cost. If you want to send a copy of the scan to Soosim to make verification easier for him, to relieve his concerns, and possibly to nip the dispute in the bud, that seems like an option.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:20, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Boggled By Citations!
I am somewhat of a wikipedia newb but have learned about archiving pages today and have fixed many citations on the animal collective page by searching archives. I have no clue how I messed up this citation number fifteen, I have looked over it many times and read pertinent help pages but cant figure it out. :'( http://en.wikipedia.org/Animal_Collective Izoanefts (talk) 04:14, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed - You just named the cite incorrectly. You should have named it "veyesor post", which also applies to cite 14. So the error was caused because you gave the cite a name that didn't exist elsewhere, and didn't include a URL. Btw, I wouldn't consider you a newbie; you've been editing for a whole 9 hours! :p --76.189.111.2 (talk) 06:02, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- I would. I don't know what the strict definition is, but I'm pretty sure it's more than a matter of hours.--Launchballer 08:51, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- I was joking about the 9 hours, thus the ":p" (tongue sticking out) at the end of my comment. Although I assumed it was rather obvious. Haha. --76.189.111.2 (talk) 09:05, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm still so confused. I did not want to name it "veyesor post" because it is not the same post by veyesor it's an entirely~ different issue that doesn't have to do with cite 14 except that the same user veyesor was posting in the same forum in cite 14 but under a different topic. Also I was pretty brain dead when I did this late last night.. so I may not have included a url. :/ wat
I am confused by what you mean when you said "you gave the cite a name that didn't exist elsewhere"? Where else should it have existed? And can you just tell me if help desk is an okay place to come with all my little problems like this? There are quite a few citations that need fixing and I want to make it my job to do so and also not mess them up too hard. ~(;_;)~ I just wanna helppp Izoanefts (talk) 17:07, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- You can give one use of a citation a short name at the front. If you want to use it again you just use the name you gave it for other uses instead of writing it out again. See Misplaced Pages:Referencing_for_beginners#Same_reference_used_more_than_once. The help desk is the correct place. Some editors phone the Queen, Obama, and the Vatican. This desk is usually easier to get through to, responds faster, and probably will give better answers.--Canoe1967 (talk) 17:27, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

- Hi; as Canoe1967 says, if someone gives a reference a name, e.g., <ref name="a name">cite goes here</ref>, that reference can be cited later by simply typing <ref name="a name"/> (note the closing slash). When you renamed <ref name="Collected Animals, Post by Brian Weitz, May 12, 2006"> to <ref name="veyesor post">, a cite that consisted only of <ref name="Collected Animals, Post by Brian Weitz, May 12, 2006" /> broke, as there was no longer a reference by that name. – 29611670.x (talk) 17:40, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, now I get it. The citation that was formerly #14 was changed to #15 so there was no problem with citation #15. :D I will remember to fix that next time, and as suggested preview the page before saving my changes. Izoanefts (talk) 18:11, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
Strange citation error
In my draft User:Toshio Yamaguchi/List of islands of the Federated States of Micronesia there is a strange citation error. I am sure that error wasn't there when I last edited the page. I guess it is because of this edit to {{Cite book}}. I've read Help:CS1 errors#parameter ignored but still don't understand what I have to do to resolve that error. It seems that the editor-last= and editor-first= parameters are no longer supported, probably since this edit to the template, although they are listed at the documentation of {{Cite book}}. What do I need to do? -- Toshio Yamaguchi 09:10, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
That citation really never worked properly. Three of the editors should have been listed followed by et al. The problem is because |editor-last=
and |editor-first=
are not valid parameters so were ignored, |editor-last=
, |editor1-last=
are synonyms as are |editor-first=
and |editor1-first=

nxtbook pages allowed as references ?
Hi,

Respected Sir/ Madam,
- I am writing this letter to inform you about a misconception about Taruni Sachdev.

In the above page, it has been mentioned that Taruni Sachdev died on 14th May, her birthday. This information is incorrect. Her birthday is on 2nd July,1998.
I was her bestfriend and I would like you to change the above information as soon as possible.

Problem with ISBN numbers
I found the page Category:Pages with ISBN errors and thought I would have a go at fixing some of them. I got to the page A Message of Peace and ref 3 reports that the ISBN 978-1-84880-050-2 is incorrect. However that is what is published on it. I thought I would add the |ignore-isbn-error=true switch to the cite book template, but then decided to check the ISBN check digit. The hahnlibrary ISBN checker reports that it is correct, as does morovia.com. I am not sure what to do next, as it looks like there is a problem with the Misplaced Pages ISBN checking algorithm. Regards. Bob1960evens (talk) 14:21, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- The parameter in the citation is:
| isbn=: 978-1-84880-050-2
. The error results from the colon preceding the ISBN. There should be nothing but a single ISBN in|isbn=
.

Image Ownership
Is there any way to retain copyright for images I post on Wiki pages?
I have a license to use certain images from a specific scientific authority. These would be essential to explain the topic of my page. I do not have authority to pass these images n to others for use on their own websites - only for publication under my name.
Is this possible, and if so how do I configure the images to ensure this?
Cheers,
Pete
P.S. I would like to help with Misplaced Pages. How do I apply to become an adviser/editor if it is possible to do so? I recently retired and am now self-employed with my online writing and SEO business from my Article Services and SEO Content sites. I have more time now to help giving back free what Misplaced Pages has given me over the years. Even if just in an anonymous background capacity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psnisbet (talk • contribs) 14:34, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Many people mistakenly think that licensing for Misplaced Pages is giving up the copyright. This isn't the case, however, the required license does mean that others can use the images, so the distinction may not be helpful.
- There are some circumstances (mainly involving images of logos) where an image can be posted her but not used elsewhere. If you explain more about the nature of the images, we could determine whether non-free use applies.
- As for helping out, you do not have to apply. You simply start editing.
- See Misplaced Pages:Tutorial for one of our many intros.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:11, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- No. Apart from the very limited exceptions SPhilbrick mentions, you may not post images unless the owner of the copyright explicitly releases them under one of the acceptable licences; whichever licence they choose will still allow anybody to use the images for any purpose, commercial or not, as long as they attribute them correctly. --ColinFine (talk) 22:58, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
period of purple crying
How do I make a suggestion that this topic of normal crying, extended for newborns, 2 to 6 months old, be introduced as an article? Babies cry relentlessly, cannot be comforted, no apparent reason for the frequent and intense crying. It is important for new parents and all parents of newborns, especially to prevent child abuse. - If you can add a few sentences to User:Canoe1967/Period of purple crying then we can add the video as a source. If anyone has the video they could expand the article from that. Are there any online sources as well? Don't worry about wrecking it in user space. We can fix it all before moving to mainspace.--Canoe1967 (talk) 21:27, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- I believe that I have the video on DVD. I'll have to see if I can find it and find out if there are any copyrights on it (I'm thinking there may not be as it is an educational video handed out by hospitals, but I could be wrong). If there are no concerns of copyvio, I'll rip and upload it. Technical 13 (talk) 21:59, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- It probably is copyright but may have a 'free licence'. If not you could email the publisher and see if they are willing to release it. That would save them making and distributing copies. When they update it we can just overwrite the file. See http://commons.wikimedia.org/Commons:Licensing for how to spot a free licence. If the feds made it it may be public domain. See http://commons.wikimedia.org/Template:PD-US-Gov . California, Florida, New Mexico, and possibly other states have similar PD state gov tags.--Canoe1967 (talk) 00:05, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Template infobox writer -- occupation parameter
I posted these questions on the Template:Infobox writer talk page yesterday. No response yet.
Is it appropriate to use an unbulleted list in the Occupation parameter? What is the reason for specifying "please don't separate entries using line breaks <br>" in the Occupation parameter? Undoing a page move
I recently created the article William Leveson (died 1621), and an unidentified editor has moved the page to William Leveson (mercer). Is there some way this page move can be undone? There is another William Leveson, also a mercer, who died in 1593 with whom this William Leveson is often confused, which is why I used the date of death in the title. Any help with this would be much appreciated. NinaGreen (talk) 18:58, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- The diff identifies the mover as User:069952497a. You could ask them on their talk page why they moved it. Unless the father also has an article in Misplaced Pages, it's best to stay with current naming conventions. You could add a note to the top of the article to clarify that this article is about the son not the father. RudolfRed (talk) 19:05, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I'll leave a message for the editor who moved the page. The former title better satisfies the five criteria specified at Misplaced Pages Article Titles as most people familiar with the subject would not search for this person under 'mercer' since he is much better known for other aspects of his life and career. - (edit conflict) It might be best to file a request at WP:REPAIR (see also WP:HISTMERGE) making it clear what the correct article title should be. For future ref, a page move can be "undone" by performing a second move back to the previous title. This will work provided that no subsequent edits have been made to the redirect which was created as a result of the initial move. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:10, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Watching only a talk page
I notice that when I add a talk page to my watchlist it automatically adds the associated page to the watchlist also. Is there a way to change this or remove the non-talk page from my watchlist? If I'm watching a user's talk page I don't care what happens on their user page. I tried going to "edit watchlist" but it only shows the non-talk page. I'm afraid if I remove it, it will also remove the talk page which is not the result I want. RudolfRed (talk) 19:11, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

- Actually, you can do some CSS work to do so using Misplaced Pages:Hide Pages in Watchlist. The instructions aren't very user friendly, but lets say you wanted to hide the talk page for the help desk, you would go to Special:MyPage/common.css and add the following code:
.watchlist-5-Help_desk { display: none; }
Alternatively, if you wanted to watch my talk page but not my user page you would add the following code:
.watchlist-2-Ryan_Vesey { display: none; }
- Misplaced Pages:Village Pump/Technical is a good place to go if this doesn't work for you for some reason. Ryan Vesey 19:55, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Wikidata does not allow two different items to point to the same article (see D:WD:Interwiki conflicts), so it is not now possible to link Cain and Abel to fr:Caïn in that way (I think the old interwiki mechanism still works, but I don't think it is recommended. Part of the point of the Wikidata project, I believe is to make sure that interwiki links are really linking corresponding articles rather than loosely connected ones.) --ColinFine (talk) 23:11, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Categories
Sorry about the not very specific title! Anyway, I'm editing the article about Oona O'Neill, who was the daughter of Eugene O'Neill and wife of Charlie Chaplin. She's currently listed as belonging to the category of 'Bermudian actors' and recently this nationality+occupation combo was also added to the 'persondata short description' .
The problem is that O'Neill wasn't really an actress. She did express a desire to go into acting in her youth, but apart from a very short stint in very small role in a play in New Jersey, she never acted in any project and after marrying Chaplin aged 18 stopped pursuing a career in any field. After Chaplin's death, she appeared briefly in a film called Broken English, but this was apparently as a favour to the director, who was her friend, rather than a legitimate attempt from her to become a professional actress (I will be adding sources for all of this information once I get down to overhauling the article). O'Neill therefore never really had an occupation – she was simply known as Eugene O'Neill's daughter and Chaplin's wife. I feel that categorizing her as a 'Bermudian actor' is factually incorrect – but I don't know what to replace it with, since it seems that an 'occupational' category is needed for a biography article. I would be very grateful for any advice on how to categorize her – are there any categories for people who are famous for their marriages? The 'spouse' category only seems to cover royal consorts and politicians' spouses.TrueHeartSusie3 (talk) 23:25, 13 April 2013 (UTC)TrueHeartSusie3
- The article is Oona_O'Neill. (Always good to put a link when you ask for help.)
- I see the phrase "Bermudian Actor" shows up twice in the article. The category that shows up on the bottom of the page can be removed by deleting the line:
]
- There is no requirement that it be replaced with anything else although it would be a good idea to post your reasons on the talk page and the edit comment so people don't think it's vandalism.
- The other line says:
| SHORT DESCRIPTION = Bermudian actor
- As far as I can tell that can be replaced with any description you want. The help text is here. If it's blank it will get tagged, but the point seems to be that if there are multiple people with that name, it identifies which Oona_O'Neill you're talking about. If you think "Charlie Chaplin's wife" is the best description of her, make that change. (Unlike the previous change, this change will not be visible on the page itself, only on certain pages that link to it. Given that there's currently only one "Oona O'Neill" page on Misplaced Pages, changes to that line might not be visible at all.) As I said above, you should post on the talk page to clarify what you're doing. One of the policies here is to be WP:BOLD, so if I've told you anything wrong and someone disagrees you can work it out from there.
- I hope that helps! Happy editing! Mattj2 (talk) 00:19, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

My personal Bio that appears on wikipedia is factually inaccurate and I need help fixing it. Revised content appears below:
Darlene Grant, associate professor in the School of Social work and former associate dean of graduate studies with responsibility for over-site of all at graduate recruitment and admissions for the University of Texas at Austin. She joined the University of Texas in 1994. She was named 2006 Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers. She teaches in the areas of social justice, clinical social work practice, and chemical dependency and recovery. Her more recent work focuses on incarcerated women and their children. From 2009-2011, she took a leave of absence from the University to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cambodia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grantdarlene1 (talk • contribs) 01:24, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for requesting assistance with this instead of directly editing this yourself. Unfortunately the additional content you have added does not have appropraite verifiable sources. In fact the first reference is based on an archived page, which is no longer on the university's website. Can you please find links to reliable sources which we can use to validate the information you request adding to the article. Thank you, Tiggerjay (talk) 04:43, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Help editing the label that showed up with my subject's listing once the page was published
Hello,
I recently wrote a biography entry that was approved and published. The problem is that the label assigned to my article is factually incorrect, and I'm not sure how to fix it since I did not write it.
The article is about Mary Johnson, American writer. Unfortunately, the label that shows up with her name when you search for "Mary Johnson" in Misplaced Pages is "Mary Johnson (American Writer, CEO of A Room of Her Own Foundation)". She is not the CEO, only a co-founder and a director.
How can I edit this or request a change?
Thank you for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.66.227.234 (talk) 01:44, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- I changed the description at Mary Johnson to say Director instead of CEO. Thanks for pointing out the error. Next time, you can be bold and fix it yourself by clicking the "edit" link at the top of the page. RudolfRed (talk) 01:49, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Broken Table
Hi. I think this table look defective -see right side-, but I'm not able to fix it. Cheers. --Ganímedes (talk) 02:00, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- It doesn't look defective as so much, it looks like someone interted some extra data that was unsourced, and unencyclopedic. I will revert the table to remove that extra data and we'll see what happens. Tiggerjay (talk) 04:46, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
A couple of issues with Church maps
I have a number of issues with some of the maps for religious groups on here, most obviously Church of the Brethren, which someone really needs to look at because it has been had a major error for the last 3 years: http://en.wikipedia.org/File:Church_of_the_Brethren_map.svg
http://en.wikipedia.org/File:Anglican_C.,_Porvoo_C.,_Utrecht_Union.svg
And the Anglican communion map, which I have a number of issues with, ie, a number of countries served by the US Episcopal Church are colored grey when they should be blue; Nepal and the Central African Republic are blue, despite not being served by any AC affiliate that I can find; Yemen and Iraq are grey, despite another wiki map saying that they are served by the Province of Jerusalem
http://en.wikipedia.org/File:ECJME.png
And then there is Europe, which is a whole 'nother story because the same countries are served by the Diocese of Gibraltar and the ECUSA affiliated Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe as well as having members of the Porvoo Communion and the Union of Urtrecht.
Who do I talk to about these issues and, better yet, how can I make one of these maps myself? Is it something in wikicommons?--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 02:21, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- You can certainly go about making a map yourself, just make sure the changes you are introducing are supported with verifiable and reliable sources. Your map doesn't have to be visually similar, but simply needs to represent the same data, with the updates you propose. If you would like to know how these specific maps were created, or to request these ones to be updated, you can reach out to their creator. By clicking on the image, you will see who uploaded the files, in this case, User:Koavf. You can reach out via their talk page, here. Tiggerjay (talk) 04:56, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- But that is kind of my technical problem - how do I make new maps? Is there some kind of software I need? If I could just point and click and make different countries/states different colors and create my own key, I could easily correct these mistakes myself. Except perhaps for the egregious Brethren map.--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 05:01, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Well the helpdesk deals specifically with helping users on how to use wikipedia itself, however, you appear to be asking more of a generic computer question. I can think of a dozen or so ways to create a map like that. However I will defer you over to the reference desk where you can ask questions about how to do things with your computer to make maps or such. Tiggerjay (talk) 05:06, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Inkscape is a free program to edit them.--Canoe1967 (talk) 06:08, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- The Map Workshop is where you really need to be. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:57, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I alert the map workshop of my issues first, then see if I can get the hang of Inkscape.--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 16:40, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Font change in Afrikaner
On the Afrikaner page there is a curious change in the font - everything between the "References" heading and the Navbox template is in a "lighter" font than normal. I can't see an obvious cause. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:43, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Inaccurate Information about 'Gurkha Contingent' on Misplaced Pages
The information on he Misplaced Pages site for the Gurkha Contingent is inaccurate and is being manipulated by unauthorized members of the unit to the detriment of its public image. I would be most grateful if you would take immediate steps to remove this site in its entirety. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

- The only evidence of malicious editing is by you. Nobody needs to be "authorized" to edit articles on Misplaced Pages - see WP:OWN. The article will not be deleted but any content that is proven to be incorrect will be removed or replaced. Please post specific information about the inaccuracies at Talk:Gurkha Contingent where interested editors can evaluate your information and act upon it as necessary. Two talk pages that relate to the same article page
ResolvedWhen I moved Autosomal Dominant Cerebellar Ataxia to Autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia it's talk page Talk:Autosomal Dominant Cerebellar Ataxia failed to move to Talk:Autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia because Talk:Autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia already existed. The previous Autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia had been deleted as a Copyvio, but it's talk page got left behind.
If you're not totally confused by all that you might just be the right person to help fix the problem. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:44, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Cite error?
Hi there,
I am writing an article – Bank of Chester County – and I'm not sure why there's a cite error; I'm copying and pasting certain formatting, though I'm unsure of how to fix it. Assistance would be greatly appreciated, sirs and madams. ;) (And frankly, I'm quite alarmed...I didn't expect Misplaced Pages to be this jargon-ated!)
Thanks, Sonoma's bridge. Sonoma's bridge (talk) 16:01, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Do not be alarmed, good bridge. I have fnixed this; you were just missing a "/" character. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 16:06, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Merci beaucoup!! Also, on the main page, I notice that the did you know section mentions that the articles shown are "Misplaced Pages's newest content"; would my article be considered eligible for that, and if so, where can I add it for my claim to wiki-fame? ;) You know what, I like this wiki experience... Sonoma's bridge. Sonoma's bridge (talk) 16:21, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Because the article was quite short when you began expanding it, yes I believe it's eligible, because your additions today have made it 5x larger. More information on the submission process is at Misplaced Pages:Did you know. Be careful of WP:PARAPHRASE. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:16, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
learning to use Misplaced Pages
Why is it that, when I try to practice formatting techniques such as italic or ==Elizabeth II== in the sandbox, they do not ever format as italic or as a bold headline, as they should? After I safe the page, it still looks like this: italic or ==Elizabeth II== (with the coding marks) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellensul (talk • contribs) 17:26, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- I took a look at your tests. You accidentally "broke" the sandbox page when you removed the "-->" at the end of the coding at the top of the page. The effect was to hide everything that came after because that little character string is used to "close" a hidden section. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Deathstep
Can an experienced editor please look at Deathstep and determine if the two cites (1 and 2) are reliable and, if they're not, remove them. I've never edited the article, but I noticed that someone added a PROD tag yesterday, which was then removed by an IP with this edit, where s/he added the two questionable cites. You'll notice that it was the edtior's first and only edit. Thanks. --76.189.111.2 (talk) 20:20, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Jewish cemeteries in Israel
