Worlds Largest Round Barn is a title currently held by a red fairground barn in Marshfield,Wisconsin. The barn is also known as the Central Wisconsin State Fair Round Barn and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places under that name in 1997.
The barn was built in 1916 to hold cattle for farmers traveling to the Mid-Wisconsin farmers market. After completion of the barn, many of the large farmers markets moved to Madison and Milwaukee making the barn no longer useful to the cattle industry. From 1920 until 1969, the barn went largely unused do to the introduction of agribusiness in Central Wisconsin.
It is unusual for a round barn in its inclusion of Modern Movement architecture.
In 1970, the Central Wisconsin state fair relocated from Wisconsin Rapids to Marshfield Wisconsin. During this time the barn received major renovations and became a carnival site holding cattle for sale and auction at the fair. Since its creation in 1916, the barn has held the title of "worlds largest".
