Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

semi-protection vandalism, Recent spat of IP vandalism. I dream of horses (T) @ 00:48, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Two quickly reverted instances of vandalism since the start of the month doesn't justify semi-protection. Nev1 (talk) 01:47, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

    Ape (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Vandalism by two accounts and an IP, presumably all the same person. Dylan620 00:32, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:35, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

    Taylor Lautner (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection - In the wake of the previous protection expiring, the article is now back to being an attraction to IP vandalism and unsourced, POV content. Candyo32 00:29, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

    Steven Seagal (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, Requesting to try pending protection on this article it gets a lot of ignored type sneaky vandal edits, and the realization that their edits are not viewed by the public in my experience at such articles after time reduces the vandals efforts suchas at George Michael and Robbie Williams, this article is a good candidate also.the IP s comment just now just about sums it up, ..."There was an abuse in Hindi after the words Takeshigemichi under author > other names - this has been removed. Misplaced Pages is wonderful, but susceptible to vandalism" ... if not pending then please just semi protect it indefinitely. . Off2riorob (talk) 00:10, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

    Semi-protected indefinitely. Nev1 (talk) 01:46, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Hold My Hand (Michael Jackson song) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection dispute, Continual recreation by editors and IP's. Article fails WP:NSONG and WP:GNG. It does not contain sufficient coverage to warrant a page. Protection to stop the ongoing edit warring between multiple editors would be appreciated. I dont think blocking is needed as it seems to have calmed down it wasnt very disruptive just more so annoying. . - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 00:04, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

    User:Aussieintn (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Indefinite semi-protection – User page of a former Encyclopedia Dramatica sysop (although this may be an impersonator). An anon is adding information about ED owner Sherrod DeGrippo to the page. I'm assuming WP:BLP protection extends to Sherrod. The page history also contains personal information and libel, so this user page may have to be deleted. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 19:31, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Indefinite full protection dispute, see log. same reason as always. Sandman888 (talk) 23:04, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Fully protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. I'd rather not fully protect indefinitely if I can help it. If the edit-warring resumes after this protection expires, however, we may have no choice. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:26, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Recurrent vandalism by different IPs. Maybe a longer temporary protection will help, but indefinite semi-protection may be necessary. Problems are mainly caused by IPs and recently created accounts.   Cs32en Talk to me  22:40, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Catherine Smith (novelist) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection. An IP-hopping anon is intent on turning this little-watched article about a nineteenth-century novelist into a page ridiculing his ex-girlfriend, or a girl who won't date him, or whatever. Original vandalism lasted three years without notice, and after I undid it it was quickly replaced. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 21:20, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Temporary full-protection – No need for repeated unblanking of a controversial deletion discussion. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 20:23, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Declined The reasons for blanking have been explained to the two editors who restored the AfD; one now understands the situation while the other has not edited since a message was left on their talk page asking them not to restore again. Full protection is not required. Nev1 (talk) 22:38, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Temporary (longish) semi protection due to current vandalism – his engagement was announced today so this may continue for a while. Having had a full look at the history some of the contributions from IPs are good, so I'll leave it to those with more experience to judge! Mechanical digger (talk) 17:41, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

User(s) blocked. I blocked the recent pain-in-the-arse IP and it's on my watchlist. I'll keep an eye on it, but I'd like to keep it open if possible. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:49, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Whilst the new user is removing some sourced content, they're also removing some unsourced stuff too. They have also repeatedly asked for discussion on the talk page, and whilst they could have started it, so could you. You're both edit waring as far as I can see. GedUK  08:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
However, I'm still looking at this, and may protect it yet as there's a possibility of socking. GedUK  08:07, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. As there's socking going on, I've protected. Nevertheless, there's some poor unsourced stuff in there that really shouldn't be (like where the students hang out). GedUK  08:16, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Comment: - I'm keeping a close eye on this article. I'm going to place a long term block on the offender's IP instead and see if that works; if not, we can move it to semi-protection. After all, there are edits on that page from non-confirmed users. Magog the Ogre (talk) 09:25, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't see why we can't go for Full protection being that the blocked user who has been edit warring could simply create a new username. There are users who didn't create an account and as a result are at a disadvantage in this scenario. Full protection would even everything out. 24.239.153.58 (talk) 14:19, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
