== Appraisals section ==
Its lead sentence reads: "Appraisal of the motives and effectiveness of the Volunteer Ministers in modern settings has been forthcoming in Russia, the USA, and the UK where they have variously been condemned by rivals, critiqued by pundits, and in at least one instance approved by police for prospective access to privileged emergency communications." Can anyone think of more to put in there? —Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 10:59, 29 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ])

FDNY commendation

While the Church points to a commendation by the New York Fire Department for their relief efforts following the September 11, 2001 attacks

At the opening of the New York Ideal Org (2004), a Stephan Hittman awarded Scientology's Volunteer Ministers the "FDNY and 911 Medal of Valor". It turned out that (a) he had no authority to hand out medals, (b) the FDNY Medal of Valor, since 1960, has only been awarded posthumously and exclusively for line of duty death. So I think that it would be prudent see some detailed references for this, including who handed out this commendation. AndroidCat (talk) 21:52, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
