Song

"A Thousand Miles" is a song written by American singer Vanessa Carlton for her debut album, Be Not Nobody. It was co-produced and co-arranged by Carlton and Ron Fair. It was released as the album's first single in 2002 (see 2002 in music) and became Carlton's breakthrough hit. She said that she felt its music video, in which she is seen playing the piano in a variety of settings, was "surreal" when she first saw it on MTV. A worldwide top ten hit, it was arguably one of the biggest singles of 2002. It appears on the soundtrack to the film Legally Blonde (2001), and was also used in the film White Chicks (2004), in which a character referred to it as "like, the whitest song ever".
