== Last night ==

Hi again. I'm not sure what your problem was last night, but this is a fair (and only) warning. If you ever edit like that again (calling people "cunt" etc, making legal threats), I will make sure you get a wee break from editing. I let you run last night as I judged you to be drunk. If you do have a problem with alcohol, you should get help rather than stumbling about insulting people and making a fool of yourself here. I see it's been a good while since your last block; let's try to keep it that way. Be well, --] (]) 18:25, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Have you nothing better to do with your time than to follow me to amusing articles? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:20, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

PS, I hope you enjoyed the external link I added. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:22, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
How in the hell was I going to resist the temptation of editing that article?!! Now really. You need to think aboput a sock for that sort of stuff, is my advice. I found a lot of sources on a google search, and though distracting, Ealdgyth would probably destroy them per RS, when you , I assume, eventually take it to FAC (splutter). I see TFM is back among us, and with sharpened claws. o and thanks for link Ceoil 16:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of April Fools ! No original research. I like the external link best :) What shall I name my sock? Ah, ha ... off to see what His Corpulence is up to now, but he doesn't talk to me enough. I Don't Like To Be Neglected by the Men in my Life :) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:33, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I get the impression that under all the moobs and seven foot wide hips, he is basically shy. If yer thinking of April Fools, I keep it on my watchlist, I have no shame tbh, you can explain all this stuff away easily enough. A bunch of my FA's are on nudes, and myself and Modernist are going to nom Les Demoiselles d'Avignon one day soon. Anybody asks - its Art, dear. AStill though, consider a sock. Ceoil 16:42, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
But my sock would need a creative name; User:Big Stupid is too easy. Sounds like a job for the Riggr family (but They Neglect Me, Too). By the way. As I contemplate options for gainful employment, do you think I should consider starting that Camp? Would you contribute to market research? How many men would go? More importantly, who would be the live subject for Helping Men Learn Their Way Around the Nether Regions? And would she enjoy it or have to groan while staring at the ceiling? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:48, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Jilted by the riggers? (Yawn); have had worse from better. As regards socks, I am well known in Cork (and not just to the police) for my ability to open bras in more time than it takes to say "no, I don't come here very often", yet I choose to share my knowledge through alt accounts, known only to a few close friends, JayHenry and, probably, the POlice. As for you research, perhalps youR institute of "Helping Men Learn Their Way Around the Nether Regions" might want to open discussions with my unofficial collection of "Men wondering why the hell are women all bonkers and further understanding and appreciation of Helen Mirren. Ltd." Ceoil 17:55, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Well <harrrummppph>. Now we know who is *not* on your list of "close friends"! (PS, Helen Mirren must have those adoring eyes for a very good reason, which I doubt is related to his checkbook.) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:17, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
What is this camp? I can't tell from your description but are you completely sure that it would be legal in your state? --JayHenry (talk) 17:52, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Hard to tell if that finger is demonstrating the proper technique for beckoning or, erm, probing. --JayHenry (talk) 19:37, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Curious about why the arts gang hasn't shown up at Misplaced Pages:Featured article candidates/The Battle of Alexander at Issus/archive2; perhaps you all thought it was a MilHist article? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:20, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Battle in the Alps, er Issus

For the outlook for 2010, I can only suggest drink, drink and more drink! About the painting, I've had a look in google.de books and didn't come up with much. Seems to me that most of Google Books stuff comes from US universities - there's probably a degree course in photocopying/scanning old books over there. I didn't find much in a German web search for articles on the painting, apart from a few non-specialist reviews which were not WP citation standard. I also had a look at the French and German WP pages on the painting but, again, nothing much there.

I did find a German wiki page about the artist, with some useful information on him, but nothing new on the painting .

I found a large version of Schedel's 1493 map of the world on the WP.de site. which the artist used for his painting of the Eastern Med .

This is a page from the art gallery in Munich dealing with the artist - nothing of interest, just a brief vague CV - . The painting hangs in Saal II on the second-floor (Obergeschoss) of the gallery .

Did you see this page -

One problem I have is that I don't know if any reviews I find in German are credible or just some clown's rantings. If you could give me the names of the leading German experts on the artist and that period, I could search on that. I found a German institute of art history (Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich ]), but when I searched their site, the only reference they had was to an article by Christopher Wood! The website for the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) lists 45 books on the artist . If any of the names on that list ring a bell, I can try to get some more info.

What might be of interest is that he is said to have taken off the 4th quarter of 1529 to do/finish the painting - as the turkish siege of Vienna was in Sept/Oct 1529, this might be significant. PS, the top half of the painting would have made a great 1970's album cover! Tschuss Scartboy (talk) 03:48, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

A present from a negligent Outrigg(e)r inspired by the above comment. I included your musical friend as you two make a catchy 70s duo name. Outrigger (talk) 06:15, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Ceoil! I'm not sure if you're settled in now and have more free time, but Music of Minnesota is at FAR, has had a lot of work but still needs more, so I'm wondering if you or WesleyDodds have time to look in? My Wiki time over the next few weeks will be limited by real-life ... ummmmm ... issues, so I can't get to all of it. Also U2 has a number of dead links, that you or Wesley might be able to address. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:28, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi Sandy - still on limited time, but will take a look at Minnesota. Im not much of a U2 fan, Bono makes me vomit, but I know Wesley has a few gaps in taste and am sure he will help there. Ceoil 11:03, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Issus authors

Here's a short list I've come up with that might be useful:

  • Kähne, Hein. Die Alexanderschlacht. Prestel Verlag, 1998. ISBN 3-7913-2028-9.
  • Wundram, Manfred. Die berühmtesten Gemälde der Welt. 1976.
  • Martin, Kurt. Die Alexanderschlacht. Bruckmann, 1969.
  • Snyder, James. Northern Renaissance Art. Harry N. Abrams, 1985. ISBN 0136235964.

Unfortunately, I don't have the means to procure any of these titles. I'd have to order most of them from overseas; that's just not possible. My Deutsch skills are also very poor. —Anonymous Dissident 04:26, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

PS: I'll add to the list as I find more. PPS: Love the album cover. —Anonymous Dissident 04:29, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you.

As you say, this is a terrible reproduction. It also has the wrong licence, as copyright resides with the artist, and the photographer has no copyright in a faithful reproduction of a 2D artwork (at least in the US). I have changed the licence on File:Bryansmyth.jpg for this reason. The licence on File:Smyth.jpg needs to be changed similarly. However, I can't see the point in using a poor reproduction, when it would be possible under fair use to take a better one from elsewhere (e.g. a gallery site). Ty 17:14, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Carlos IV in his Hunting Clothes

"...at the royal crotch." is a very amusing word choice. Is that from Hughes or did you phrase it that way yourself? Good article. --Griseum (talk) 17:19, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Langer? Who the fuck do you think you are, you goul, coming on to my talk like, calling me a fecking langer? Seriously boy, thats not on at all, at all. I hope there is three of me for every one of you, cause your dead boy. Totally.utterly.and absolutely.stone.fucking.dead. And your mot too.
You have been told. Ceoil 17:41, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

<thats a joke bty> If you are a UCC boy you are sound here. Ceoil 17:45, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry, I wouldn't have called you a langer if I wasn't ready to take a joke as well. I don't remember O'Riardans/O'Riordans. I know I hung out at An Spailpín Fánach and at An Bodhrán, as well as the College Pub run by Campbell's Caterning. Sometimes at a jazz place as well, and the pub where all the Guards drank (since it was open all night, "brilliant!") but I don't remember the names. Coming from Boston I was no "blank canvas" when it comes to accents, but I can still do a pretty decent immitation of a Norrie. I don’t know if I can translate it into writing but I’ll try. “Jacinthaaa, y’take anuther look at yer wun n I’ll tear yer haaair duwn t’da grund!” Maybe it doesn't translate. If u got more to say, just answer here so we don't have to keep flipping back n forth. --Griseum (talk) 17:56, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: "The Boston accent is cool though, was a hit with the Cork "ladies"?" I'll just say I've done very, very well with across the United States & Europe. At one point, I faced a crossroads: Try as much as I could to eliminate it, or just go with it. For the reason I just stated, I decided to go with it. However, once someone told me it made me sound stupid. All I could do was smile and calmly say "Whateva. I'm way smahter than you." --Griseum (talk) 18:17, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

  • I knew damn well you were joking, and after you mentioned your mum & your sister I had no shortage of retorts on hand but decided "nope...I'm not touching this with a 10.5 foot pole!" Now fek off, you bloody great langer! --Griseum (talk) 21:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Juanta

It's undoubtedly a misspelling of "Junta" which is "council" or "board". No worries about the FAC stuff, the problems weren't of your making. Yomangani 22:55, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Yep, The Dog is difficult because it comes from nothing and is too radical. Nobody can work it out so we are left with enigmatic, powerful and touching as the only descriptors. There are a few sources hidden in html comments in the article, but they mostly say the same thing. (and don't worry, it's not my hard work your are insulting when you diss the Black Paintings - Saturn and the Dog were my only creations) Yomangani 12:23, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

One of my favorite old songs ...Modernist (talk) 23:14, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Is the Barnstar of Fine Arts really sporting dismembered corpses (reminiscent of the Belvedere Torso mind, not any old dismembered corpses)? Anyway, what's all this chatting? Can't I interest anybody in starting Barge Haulers on the Volga (pic)? Like the Misplaced Pages Mr Goya, the Misplaced Pages Mr Repin is sadly undernourished. I'm sure there is an embarrassment of riches on this picture or Easter Procession in the District of Kursk (pic), but all those policies just wear me down to the point were I can't even begin - I started typing but a Ghostriggr appeared before me rattling his citation templates and in fear I ran out into the street shouting "Happy Neutral Point of View". (I'm quite happy to insert my wild OR fantasies if somebody else starts it though). Congrats on the disasters everybody. Yomangani 23:54, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry Yomangani, we were having as americans say, a moment after a fairly crap week. I robbed the hidden links in the Dog, some good stuff there, but brain is too sore to incorporate just yet. So its down to Ghostriggr now eh, after so many imposing other incarnations, telling us how we should dress, think - and on. Well, well well. Once so proud and haughty. Where is my sleeve; I feel a giggle coming on (thats not a personal attack - is it not true!). Re tempaltes and things, I'm having a hard time getting to grips with their sheer size. No article is finished, thats the point, but these huge fucking boxes, at the top each where you turn, its enough to make you think the internet is run by aggressively thick undersexed adolescent boys. Ceoil 00:02, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Isn't it ? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:26, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, yes - that was my attempt at pithy. However, I dont think that range is limited to adolescent boys. There are ejits of all ages here, sadly. Ceoil 00:30, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Most kind. I'll now go and start slowly buggering it up. Yomangani 09:56, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Van Gogh's "Wheatfield"

Hi, I see that you are doing great work on Van Gogh and related subjects - fine! Recently you've altered the title to 'wheatfields' - but considering Van Gogh's use of titles this alteration is not correct, for his title for the paintings of this series 'Wheatfield' is pointing to the consistency in subject matter, i.e. the view of the wheatfield he could see from his room. A title like 'Wheatfield (series of paintings)' would be closer to Van Gogh's ideas. All the best, --RPD (talk) 15:37, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

A coupla questions...

Okay, why is this here and not in mainspace? I get kinda confused...I thought as a fairly low traffic article that not much in the way of shenanigans would happen in between editing bursts...(?) I am just juggling way too many things. Queen I was never hugely fond of when younger but they have aged rather well music wise....Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:46, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

PS: Here's a challenge and a good purpose for 75 year old + public domain images...see where I am asked some stuff about designing triple crown decorations...I did think of some Special_edition_triple_crowns...how about one for food (a hugely underrepresented area in GA/FA circles) - are tehre some nice old paintings of cornucopia-type thingies, maybe with some royalty? If so, would be good to use here. Also, rtaher than a video game one, an old painting or three of royalty playing any games and make it a games anceint and modern type triple crown...ideas? Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:46, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Cas, I think Indoplug and Wesley want to work in peace where they can use bulletpoints, random jottings and such without having to worry about taggers and random 'concerned' wikipedians templating them for whatever reason motivates such people. I'd be a fairly serious Queen fan myself (or at least I was when I between 10-15 (Buzzcocks changed all that) but Queen II? Dunno.
As to food and GA/FA, well the only two that I know of that did great work in the area are Bunchofgrapes and Peter Isotalo - Butter and Medieval cuisine respc. Medieval cuisine is just a georgous article, and butter - thats the industry I work in. I spent three years (2002-2004) with marketing peeps (I'm not marketing, bty, thoes guys suck) whoes job it was to come up with ideas for new improved butter, or at least ads that suggest new improved butter. Needless to mention, they failed and are now all working in sweat shops in Poland. Ceoil 01:48, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

PS: But seriously, I was thinking of artworks to make Triple Crown award pages. Am working on and off on coffee at the moment, but it is heavy going...Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:53, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
The broader the topic, then obviosuly the more difficult it is to manage. Fowler&fowler has brought this up a few times, and he is right, the narrower the focus of an article, the easier it is to write. Malleus mentioned Death on Irricident's talk a week or two back, how it would be impossible to develop satisfactorly, and its so true. I would take my hat off if you can do more with coffey, it is a real challange. I stick mostly to art-works, but would like to scale up to artist's bios. Myself and Modenist are working on Van Gogh, but can you imagine what the FAC would be like for such a well known figure, about whom the dogs on the street have an openion. Bloodbath. Ceoil 02:01, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I am sure you two can pull Van Gogh off, no worries. A few of us will chip in for a copyedit too. Coffee is a problem as the production section is all arsed, I just realised, and needs a big rewrite and I am jugglnig too much... :) Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:57, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

I just heard in the radio the orchestra name. It would be nice to add such information at the lead section. OboeCrack (talk) 00:39, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much

Thanks so much for your beautiful barnstar and your very kind words - I am blushing and (almost) speechless. Ruhrfisch ><>° 00:41, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I had to go have a look ... very nice (and well deserved, too!). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:47, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Commons, Ceoil! (Not quite sure about that Comhrá; probably one of the Riggr family)

Commons

Glad to hear it! It makes translating articles so much easier all the way around... Lithoderm 00:49, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Comhrá is friends; it reads Welcome here; music and friendship. So your grand. Outriggr too; I suppose. Note they spell Ceoil without an i, and are so likely from Dublin. West Brit, up the country, tie wearing, SUV driving, mirror orientated, reality tv, bastards. Ceoil 01:03, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Nope, the picture's info page gives Kilkenny as the location, nearer to Cork than Dublin. (I just assumed the misspelling was on your part, he he) My ancestors are from Ballinamore, but since they're on the order of great-great-great I guess I'm more of a "plastic paddy" than anything else. Anyway, belated congrats on The Disasters of War. Any plans for the next FA drive? My spring break is one week away, so I may be able to help. Lithoderm 02:43, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
S! P! R! I! N! G! B R E A K ! ! ! Funny you dont stike me as the Cancoon type. Fine, Kilkenny people are good, and Leitrim grand too. re drive, Van Gogh and Witches' Sabbath: the last one as a preparation for Black Paintings. I suppose I really like Goya. Interested in either? Ceoil 03:14, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
The Black paintings sound interesting, though I'd have to do some reading on either of those. As for spring break, it'll be cold, dreary Kentucky for me... Lithoderm 22:01, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't have enough to start work in earnst on the Black Triptychs, as I say I'll like to work up Witches' Sabbath first, but its not going well. We have a new 2nd hand art book store in Cork recently, and I'm finding great bits and pieces, though nothing substantial on Goya yet. Might be a while, I suppose before the main triptych article is started. Ceoil 23:20, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

It's official

Having despaired that Wiki will never again be graced by His Corpulence, I have given up on Malleus, and am now focusing on greener pastures. Tomorrow is Saturday; you missed my birthday, and are derelict in your entertainment duties. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:01, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Well now. Thats a lot of pressure, but I'll see what I can do. Ceoil 19:03, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Funny question

Ceoil I have a question, A friend of mine was just here - he's written a play and he asked me if I might know how people in Sligo in County Mayo pronounce the word fuck - do they say <fook> or <fek> or <fuhK> he wants the dialog to be authentic so I am asking, thanks...Modernist (talk) 21:38, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Fook with a upwards lilt on the k. Thing about Mayo people (my brother in law is one) is that they are as cute as they come, so their accent has tinges of their knowing something you dont know. Its both deeply annoying and charming at the same time. Silgo is a great town, has great trad music sessions, and its very like the rest of Ireland was in the 60's. This means though thats it a bit underdeveloped, and has hight unemployment, and they are very defensive. Ceoil 21:45, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Fantastic, I'll read this to him, thanks...Modernist (talk) 22:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

okay, okay - hosing this down. Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Nice one. If there is some reason you think I am "political" or should "go away", please state it honestly either here or at my own talk page. Otherwise, please don't leave rude edit summaries like that; I don't know you well enough to take it as humor, and otherwise it's just vaguely rude. I have been watching both articles that we're working on together for a good while, there's no need to be paranoid about that, I haven't "followed" you anywhere. I currently have 35,970 pages on my watchlist. Relax, let's work on making these good but imperfect articles better, or else give me a good reason why I shouldn't be improving them. Cheers, --John (talk) 05:43, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

So out of 35970 you had to pick that one tonight. What do thoes odds work out at about, O 35970/1? Please go away, I am not thick and not intersted. Is that honestly enoght for you. Ceoil 05:47, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Glad you're not thick. I'll edit where I like. Thanks for trying to be honest. Cheers, --John (talk) 05:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, you did stalk me, under the circustances this is about as nice as I get; before I get all legal on your ass. Later. Ceoil 05:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you do me a favor and read WP:LEGAL, then refactor that? Thanks, --John (talk) 05:59, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you do me a favor and just leave me the fuck alone. And stop saying thanks after you treathen me. Ceoil 06:01, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Request for help

I am will shortly be posting to WP:AN with the request below. Any support would be appreciated.

Request to WP:AN

"I would like to take the article History of logic to FA. I have already sought input from a number of contributors and have cleared up the issues raised (I am sure there are more). I wrote nearly all of the article using different accounts, as follows:

I would like to continue this work but I am frustrated by the zealous activity of User:Fram who keeps making significant reverts, and blocking accounts wherever he suspects the work of a 'banned user'. (Fram claims s/he doesn't understand "the people who feel that content is more important than anything else").

Can I please be left in peace with the present account to complete this work. 'History of logic' is a flagship article for Misplaced Pages, and is an argument against those enemies who claim that nothing serious can ever be accomplished by the project". Last night

Be well, --John (talk) 18:25, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
