Lindsborg is also known as "Little Sweden" because of the Swedish immigrants who founded the town. Although the architecture has a distinct American small town style and hardly no one speaks Swedish anymore, the town has ín many other ways decided to profile its' Swedish heritage. This is most striking in the Main Street where most shops carry Swedish names and there's a large gift shop which sells Swedish crafts and souvenirs. Main Street is also decorated with large versions of the Dalecarlian horse, probably the most well-known Swedish souvenir. Although most of Lindsborg's founders were not from Dalarna, a county which holds only 3% of Sweden's population, the local crafts of Dalarna has come to represent Sweden in Lindsborg. Main Street also has speakers that play fiddle spelman music from Dalarna.
Holiday customs in Lindsborg reflect Swedish heritage, they celebrate Saint Lucy's Day and Midsommar. In the fall of odd-numbered years, Lindsborg celebrates its Swedish heritage with food, crafts, and dancing in a festival known as Svensk Hyllningsfest.

North of Lindsborg is Coronado Heights, which is believed to be where Francisco Vázquez de Coronado gave up his search for the seven cities of gold, and turned back to return to Mexico. The town possesses the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery for Birger Sandzén.
Lindsborg was the subject of a special feature article in the May 2006 National Geographic Magazine, which can be viewed on their website. In recent years an international school of chess was founded there.
