My edit summaries
Sorry -- I hadn't intened fo that summary to be offensive. I just couldn't think of the right word for it, since you were not vandalising, just an honest mistake. Overall I think your work with the article is great, and I know you want more. Unfortunately most sources only mention him in passing or in relation to M'ba. Also, could you please stop removing every discussion -- it gets annoying to those who want to see the history of a page. ~one of many editorofthewikis ~ 23:34, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- no worries. Ceoil 00:09, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think this is ready for FAC yet? There really isn't anything more available, and the PR is getting no comments. ~one of many editorofthewikis ~ 01:29, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Meshuggah
Greetings Ceoil! Some time ago, you agreed to check the Meshuggah article (it was on 21st September on User talk:Lykantrop). You probably forgot or something :) Could you have a look on it now please? I wasn't able to work on it for the last two weeks, but now I just fixed all I wanted to fix. I want to go with that article to FAC as soon as possible. Your help/opinion would be really great...(you can comment it on the peer review). Cheers-- LYKANTROP ✉ 12:45, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll try to add some samples. I have never done this before so lets see ... :) -- LYKANTROP ✉ 13:43, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Good day! You are back! Have you been travelling? I really hate to be pestering, but could you please have a look on the prose of Meshuggah? It would be really great help for me!-- LYKANTROP ✉ 12:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Hey back
The new job is pretty excellent - very similar to the old job but pays better. And I still have access to the amazing library. :) Sorry to hear Outriggr has not returned. Who would have thought that the real world could trump Misplaced Pages? Kafka Liz (talk) 15:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Who would have thought that the real world could trump Misplaced Pages? Ah, you detected my sarcasm. Things have been pretty busy for me with the new job -- far less time for
goofing aroundimproving articles. Anytime you need an article though (or a spellchecker, for that matter :) ), just ask. Later, Kafka Liz (talk) 15:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Billy
I have some more things to write on William Wordsworth, which I will probably add tonight. However, here is what I want from you - determine how we want to deal with Wordsworth's depression because of Coleridge not being around and how he may have seen his sister. Do we want it split in half (Lucy and Dorothy together, Coleridge depression separate), background info together with Lucy speculation all together. Or, we could call it "Loss" as one of the themes and put it there. Also, just for future knowledge, we will have to ask the Sandy Medical Association to look over what I put up later to help with some of the medical/psychological terminology and details. I hope you are prepared for this page to grow quickly and in complex (and even scary) ways. :D Ottava Rima (talk) 23:59, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- I find Coleridge to be the more fanicating character of the two; although I prefer Billy's verse. I also find Dorothy a very attractive character, and of course I dont buy some of the more fanciful therories regarding Lucy's historical identity. I'm only researching yet, but starting to think the background / context and the tie in with the notes in the prefax are more important than the the individual poems themselves. This is by far more difficult and ambuituious project i've taken so far, and I suppose I'll need a lot of guidance. In the back of my mind, when I was formualting the idea, I assumed Whiskeydog (Ulysses (poem)) would be still be around, but he's not. Flip. Ceoil 00:11, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, this is rather straight forward. It is just where the information should be placed, because there is little standard formatting, so you have to make it up as you go along. The "Lucy" poems will be child's play compared to some other things I'll drag you into. :) I just need to know about organization later. I'll put in more content tonight so you can get a sense of what will be said. Ottava Rima (talk) 01:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I figured it out - Identity of Lucy (section) with a few paragraphs on the various speculations, but not Dorothy. Put in the Coleridge section as a subsection. Then follow that with Dorothy as Lucy subsection, and in addition to the information now, add in Bateson's pseudo incest theory, i.e. love for sister (in the form of Lucy), but Lucy has to stay separated from him for various reasons (and the various back and forth between interpretations of the nature of the relationship). The only question then is if this should be combined with themes into a section called "interpretation" or not. Ottava Rima (talk) 03:25, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I mean because 75% of the books I read are on art, IRL lit or punk history so I'm outside my area. But thats a good thing, I might even learn something; and would be pleased if you do drag me into unknown places. Ceoil
Can you trim the "She Dwelt among the Untrodden Ways" section to about 3 paragraphs: 1 of intro/place and 2 of plot. The rest could probably go into other areas if you want to excise it. How does this sound? I want to try and keep the actual poem sections minimized, i.e. 3 paragraphs for the two with Wiki pages, and possibly 5 for those without. Other information can go in themes or revisions. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:33, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Poke poke. Are you going to do the above? I've been waiting on you. :P Ottava Rima (talk) 21:12, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm mired in Wiki-drama currently. Need links to dull the pain. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:25, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

- If you're talking about the issue that covered "The White Album" and Murmur, I missed that one because I assumed my library would get a copy, then I found out they haven't added any Mojo issues since 2004. Dammit. Also, I'm beginning to think that "Lips Like Sugar" is possibly one of the top ten rock songs of the 1980s. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:24, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Lindsay Robertson
On this edit: Contrary to your edit summary, it's not a bland statement. It's a grand-sounding, but screwed up and unanalysable statement. Let's look at it again: "Lindsay Robertson is a renowned Scottish photographer, who is best known as the only British artist to have exhibited alongside that of Ansel Adams." Alongside what of Adams? This might have been intended to say that LR is the only British artist to have exhibited alongside AA, which I don't believe, or that LR is the only British artist to have had a solo show alongside one by AA, which I might believe but for which I'd want excellent authority. (Incidentally, if one or more of these is true, so intercoursing what? Work of less famous people is routinely exhibited alongside that of more famous people; the excellence of the latter is sometimes reflected in the former and sometimes not.)
On this one: So far as the claim is meaningful, it should definitely not be "sourced" by appeal to the photographer's own site. (And as for saying that "Robertson's photography is concerned with capturing 'a moment in our time'", I wonder what the hell that's supposed to mean. For one thing, who are the "we" -- Scotsmen, artists, humankind, earthlings, mammals?) -- Hoary (talk) 10:06, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Notes
Moved to Augustan drama talk page here.
A few quick notes for you to work with until I can dig through some other sources. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:02, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've emailed these to my buddy with the JSTOR access. Hopefully should be able to retrieve them. Thanks again Rima. Ceoil 15:13, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry about that. These are the raw quotes, and they are in books. If you need hard copies, I can get you copies. However, I think I found enough information for each paragraph on the page, so that you can put at least 15 citations down. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
No Jacket Required
Hello there! I've never really nominated an article for Peer Review before, so bear with me. I have just recently nominated the article, No Jacket Required for Peer Review. I was a major force in turning it into the bare bones article it once was, to the Good Article that it is at the time of this message. I would love to improve it and make it a Featured Article, but I stink at these kinds of things, and usually go in a totally wrong direction! I looked at the Peer Review volunteer's page, and thought that you'd be a great person to look the article over, and see if any improvements are necessary. The link to the peer review is here. I would appreciate any sort of input, but if you are too busy, I certainly understand. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you at the peer review! CarpetCrawler (talk) 23:45, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Timeliness
I agree about the timeliness, although Tulip mania was just on the Main Page, and I don't technically have an anniversary of any sort to work with, so my guess is it wouldn't get through the Main Page request system. A shame in my opinion. Even your fearless leader would be impressed and informed by reading it. --JayHenry (talk) 15:29, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Coile, thanks for setting aside our animosity long enough to allow Panic of 1907 to earn a little gold star. November 4th is held up as the day the panic ended... but from my reading of the rules at WP:TFAR, it's still a long shot. And I'm not very optimistic that the editors there are interested in making an exception, on the grounds of relevance. You know how these things are on Misplaced Pages. A substantive piece of economic history with modern relevance is just one less slot for a video game or whatever... Out of deference for your help on this project, I pledge not to seek your community banning at least for the remainder of October. Respectfully, XOXOX
Audio sample help for Scream/Childhood
Hi Ceoil, could you help with an audio sample for "Scream". I would be interested in using the section of the song that starts at approximately 2:57, when Janet speaks and it goes into the rock instrumental solo. If not, any point after 2:57 would be great as the finally is better than the beginning. I have nominated "Scream/Childhood" for GA, it does need a pro's clean up still, I'll nag someone else to help with that. :-) — Realist 16:10, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Paranoid Android
I've been working with User:Giggy, User:Papa November, and WesleyDodds on the "Paranoid Android" article. It's been promoted to GA and we're aiming for a FA in the near future. Wesley recommended that I ask you (as well as User:Indopug and User:NSR77, who I'm sending this same messages to) to take a look at the article before it's nominated at FAC; if you find a minute to do so I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks! --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 04:25, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Caspar David Friedrich
Sure, I'd be happy to take a look - I've been spinning my wheels a bit looking for a new project. He's a bit out of my period, so I'm not sure I have anything useful here at home in terms of additional sources, but I'll give it a read and maybe pick up some books on Monday. Thanks! Penultimate warning
Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. --JayHenry (talk) 15:04, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
