Braemar Elementary is a Canadian primary school for children in grades kindergarten to grade 7. It is situated at 3600 Mahon Avenue, North Vancouver, in proximity to Balmoral Junior Secondary School.
Braemar is a bilingual school which has just created the late French immersion program for older children. There are currently 500 children attending this school and 43% of the student body are capable, or will be capable, of speaking French at a very high level.
Braemar has many sports programs for the senior grades in the school such as, basketball, volleyball and track and field. There was, at one time, a sport invented by the much loved Mrs. Ray, called "Ray Ball", that was enjoyed by any child going through gr. 3. It is a type of baseball/softball.
The library, which has many books, is new and updated recently. The music room, activity room and office have also been updated in the recent years. Although some of the school is a little older, all is in good shape and working well.
The outside has a great "primary" and "indermediate" playground which includes a spacenet, and multiple slides. There is also a giant gravel field that at one time had an "out of bounds" forest around it that all the children played in, but now is fenced off for their safety.
Braemar Elementary school feeds into Balmoral Jr. Secondary School (balmoralsecondary.ca) which is the only junior high in North Vancouver. There are approximatly 350 students who attend the school, creating a small educational environment.
