Koby Mandell was an Israeli-American child who was killed on May 8, 2001, by Palestinian terrorists. Koby was 13 years old at the time of his death.

Biography

Koby was born in 1987 in the United States and held dual citizenship in Israel and United States, in Silver Spring. He was the oldest son of Sherri Mandell and Rabbi Seth Mandell. He moved to Israel along with his family when he was in 4th grade.

On May 8th, Koby and his friend Yosef Ishran skipped school to go hiking in the rocky countryside that surrounded the Mandell home in Tekoa (town), Israel. The two boys were bludgeoned to death with rocks by Palestinian terrorists. Although no proof was found, a group called Hizbullah-Palestine claimed responsibility.

Koby Mandell Act

The Koby Mandell Act was passed in 2004 to create a new office in the Department of Justice to capture all foreign nationals who have killed or harmed Americans overseas, including Palestinian Arabs.

The Koby Mandell Foundation

The Koby Mandell Foundation's stated mission is to "work to bridge the isolation that bereaved children and adults are struck with after the loss of a loved one."
