Voice your opinion (talk page) (2/1/1); Scheduled to end 19:26, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Susanlesch (talk · contribs) - Hi. My first edit was on May 31, 2006. Today over 2,000 articles are on my watchlist and stats show something over 18,000 edits as of this writing at an average of 8.5 edits per page. I was a sysop on AOL (volunteer, weren't we all :-) for about 2.5 years and served there as an area manager actively answering user questions until I left to start my own website. I recently found places that I think I could help with on Misplaced Pages. Apart from stats I think that while I do stand up for things I believe in at times, my general tendency is to avoid conflicts and try to work in harmony. Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Misplaced Pages as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
A: For two things, Did you know and In the news. I would like to assist the editors who participate there when I can by editing the templates (we have recently experienced a need for admins in the news area who are following the votes on candidates). I don't expect to take a front seat on confrontations with vandals but I do use the rollback feature quite often (one mistake, for which I apologized profusely, so far). Article deletions and helping with non-free content might also be things I could assist with (thanks should go here to the patient sysops who came before me and taught us who came later the value of free content).
2. What are your best contributions to Misplaced Pages, and why?
A: Probably content, see list of articles, including three at featured status. I worked on digging out sources and bringing Minneapolis, Minnesota to FA (it was started by others many years before my time). Lisa del Giocondo is the other FA that I took through the FAC process (it still needs work!). Portal:Minnesota was started ably by other editors before my time, and recently I brought it through the featured process. Also I helped to invite people to and organize a local meetup in 2007.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: Part of last year I was ill. I had two opportunities during that illness to see how conflicts can be resolved successfully. In the first instance, another editor and I disagreed on an article about a newspaper. We worked with someone who had been recognized for being able to resolve conflicts which he did (details). In the second instance, I felt shadowed and looked at the options available at Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution. I chose the path of least power, the Editor assistance board, where someone kindly helped the same day {details). In the second instance, it turned out the other editor was later identified as a sockpuppet--I am the proud recipient of a barnstar from a sockpuppet as a result and have no conflicts with anybody I know of on either Misplaced Pages or Wikimedia. So based on the past, I think that in the future it will be pretty easy to work towards happy endings when and if conflicts do arise.

Discussion

Support
  1. I've seen Susanlesch around many times before. I think she'll make a fine admin. Acalamari 20:12, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Support. Agree with Acalamari (talk · contribs), have seen her around, checked out her contributions to many different areas of the project, will do well with the tools. Cirt (talk) 20:54, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Oppose
  1. Oppose - Regretfully. And that's not perfunctory. You are a highly prolific editor. One of the best I've seen in a while, at least in terms of candidates at RfA. However, with that said, I fear that you lack the practical experience of what is demanded/expected in an administrator. Most of your project space contributions are wikiprojects for editing, peer reviews, featured articles..etc..etc...same goes for Misplaced Pages talk. I'm afraid I just can't, in good conscience, support you at this time. Wisdom89 (T / ) 20:39, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Neutral
  1. Neutral On the fence on this one so far, since I noticed barely a blip in admin related areas. Awaiting answers to my questions to make a better informed choice. ArcAngel (talk) 20:29, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
