Your GA nomination of Parallel computing
The article Parallel computing you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Parallel computing for things needed to be addressed. Blair - Speak to me 01:50, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Very good work expanding the history section of the Parallel computing article. Raul654 (talk) 20:21, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Request for semi-protect of my talk page
Over the past few months, some random IPs (likely belonging to the same person) have been using my talk page for chatter, and sometimes posting very bizzare things. I repeatedly clean up my talk page by deleting these, warning the IPs not to post the bizzare chatter on my talk page, but it still continues. I believe that it would be best that my talk page be semi-protected for at least six months. It becomes increasingly annoying cleaning up my talk page. MVillani1985 (talk) 08:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Only for 1 month. --BorgQueen (talk) 11:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Hopefully by then the anonymous IPs will find something else to do. MVillani1985 (talk) 22:02, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi
Hi, I just came here to tell you - you have the most awesome username I have seen on Misplaced Pages. I also like the image of the cube (only if there were a free image of your namesake... *sigh*). Resistance to this appreciation is completely futile. You rock. Aditya 15:49, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
DYK note
Hey. When choosing hooks for the next update, try to start with the dates closest to expiration before doing ones on the 20th or so. The backlog's rather mild right now so it's not a big deal, at least you're helping out :) Wizardman 04:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I am aware of that guideline. But, as you said, the backlog is not so much now, and I am picking more interesting ones. Why don't you participate in moving articles to the update yourself then, if you have different taste/opinions. Cheers. --BorgQueen (talk) 04:20, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Greetings. I'm wondering if you would consider giving me the DYK messagebox for helping substantially expand Mosque of Omar? Or is that only for the creator/nom? Fishing for compliments, yours truly, HG | Talk 06:52, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Could you explain what the "upright" function does? I see it made a difference in the formatting, but I'm not sure how or why. I'm new to image work, so any help you can give would be great! Thanks for helping out at the article! Regards, -- Bellwether C 08:28, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link! I have watchlisted it, and will reference it often, when formatting the photos I use in the articles I write. And thanks again for doing the work on it at the V'town article! -- Bellwether C 08:34, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know that I have deleted Image:Victoriatown Map.jpg from Misplaced Pages, and have subsequently removed it from the main page as it was an obvious copyvio from Google Maps. Can you block this sock ip 124.87.134.96?
Hi, BorgQueen, I come across here as you're active. I've been dealing with a long persistent sock ip users's near vandalism. The user has been registered to Japanese Soft Bank network, and his vandalism on Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/Case/Amazonfire fourth times with two ip addresses. As the consequence, the ip user has been banned from editing for 2 weeks. Per their same writing style and interest (ex, manhwa and yujacha), even thought the network host is different, I believe the user is using an open proxy or in a different place like internet cafe.

Same comments with different ip address and networks =
I believe the user evades his sanction again (many 5~6 times?) Can you look into his contributions and block him? Thanks.. --Appletrees (talk) 15:07, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted you to block the sock ip user, but I think this time, the user switches to Amazonfire (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) whom I strongly believe the sock of the same user. I filed a RFCU report on the sockpuppetry but have been waiting for over 2 weeks! DYK tags on articles/userpages
Who is responsible for tagging DYK articles when they appear on the main page? The new set hasn't been tagged yet. I can do it if anyone can do it, but one of them is my work, and that might not look right... Horologium (talk) 17:51, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Satoru Kobayashi (director)
Thanks for the DYK, BorgQueen (I promise that will be the last Japanese erotic cinema nominee from me for a while ;) -- I thought this director's accomplishment was of enough significance to warrant a second JEC DYK within a week). One possible problem though. I don't see it on the main page or in any of the DYK archives... It seems to have vanished from DYK history somehow... Dekkappai (talk) 18:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, BorgQueen. Right-- I'm well aware of the pink film problem too, and try to be delicate about the subject with Japanese friends. My (Korean) wife, knowing my interest in the subject, tut-tuts, "People won't respect you if they know you're interested in those movies!" But, to my thinking, Japan is the only country that has really made a cinematic artform out of the erotic film genre. That should be cause of some sort of pride, though I do understand the embarrassment the subject can produce on their part too... Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 19:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for using my fact about Music Macro Language in DYK. One thing, though — could it be altered to not refer to MML as a markup language? Tweaking of Killing Time DYK hook
Yo, while I appreciate the need for DYK hook's to be concise and to the point, your removal of "operatic tenor" from Paul Feyerabend's careers pretty much undermines the novelty of the hook - the point is that the fellow must have lead a pretty interesting life (and thus have a compelling biography) if he was a Nazi officer, operatic tenor and a notorious philosopher with a vigourous sex life. Might you consider restoring it? скоморохъ 05:52, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- You have a point. I restored it, and removed the sex life part instead, which isn't really crucial. --BorgQueen (talk) 06:02, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Are you a Cali/Aussie Cab drinker?
:) Those grapes tend to be more ripe and will have less pyrazines with the fruit essentially drowning out any bell notes. I'm glad you find that hook interesting. :) I'm a little more partial to the 1st because I was surprised to find out that one of the world's greatest wine grapes was an accident that only happened a little over 300 ago. :p Agne/ 07:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, actually, almost all (if not all) Cab I drank were from there, I think. Nice insight. And, you see, many of the greatest discoveries in history were accidents... Mother Nature has a sense of humor. :-D --BorgQueen (talk) 07:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Quiet true. She does have a wick sense humor. Another favorite of mine is how some of the most luscious, mind blowing wines could come from grapes that I wouldn't feed my dog. Agne/ 08:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

- Yay, thanks very much. Saw it wasn't on the page anymore and got confused... J Milburn (talk) 18:14, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
too many?
When I look at this then I think the last two are too many. OK? Victuallers (talk) 18:23, 24 February 2008 (UTC) Well argued. I should have checked. Well done BQ Victuallers (talk) 19:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- idea... I have to go out but I would change the picture on dyk to this one at Bascule bridge. I think the precedent is there and it is strongly related to the article. Not offended if you disagree Victuallers (talk) 20:59, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Should this (Image:Helena scan cropped.jpg) image be deleted? If so, would you delete it? Royalbroil 03:50, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for pasting the DYK template on my talk page and managing to put the title into the proper place in a way that informed me that my little weed article was on the front page! -- carol (talk) 06:11, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi again. Thanks so much indeed for your contribution. I appreciate. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 21:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for the DYK nomination! Regards, Cplakidas (talk) 09:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Your revert of this should not have been done in the way it was done, I understand where I went wrong, but you are not supposed to revert using rollback unless it was vandalism, you should have used undo. ~ Dreamy 17:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi BorgQueen, regarding this DYK credit, I'd like to point out that the article 2008 Lincolnshire earthquake was substantially expanded (doubled in length) by my work when the content of 2008 Market Rasen earthquake, which I created, was merged by Dhartung into 2008 Lincolnshire earthquake, and the Significance section and the quoted DYK fact came from my edits before the merger.
I've never had the pleasure of a DYK credit cookie, and I'd love to have one from you if you have any spares. :) - Neparis (talk) 01:18, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Tastiest cookie ever! Thanks. Neparis (talk) 01:46, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, since you're moving entries at the moment, just wondering if there's any reason the John McCauley one is getting passed by? Not a huge deal but if it doesn't get up I'd like to know for next time - length had been questioned but that's sorted now... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 11:07, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Many thanks once again. CeeGee (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Can you peek at the article and decide if the quotes functions in the references should be deleted. The arguments for both sides are on the talk page. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
