Despite having registered accounts measured in millions, statistics show that 50% of all edits are done by ~500 users, 75% of all the edits are done by ~1400 users. Taking into account remarkable people able to create good articles in two edits we would find that Misplaced Pages as we know it would not exist without 2..3 thousand people
Why would an expert bother contributing his valuable time to a project that can be ruined by any random idiot on the net? People love to compare Misplaced Pages to Open Source but guess what: bad, incorrect code doesn't compile. Bad, incorrect information on the net lives on and non-experts hardly ever notice the mistake.

Hi, I'm a graduate of Manchester Polytechnic & University of York who is interested in lots of things, which makes me useful for pub quizzes but not very employable. I've been editing here since 8th August 2007, clocking up 4000 edits. But luckily I don't suffer from vanity or guilt in this. These are just numbers and I'd rather be judged by the quality of what I do here rather than its quantity.
